Fishin' in the stream of consciousness (all-purpose, no topic chat thread)

Got a job interview at the ibero-american library next week.
job listing requires knowledge of spanish.
my knowledge of spanish, at the moment: extrapolations from french, which i ditched after grade 11, 7 years ago, with the worst possible passing grade. strangely, i can piece together the meaning of day-to-day french texts, and string together a few phrases.

my current plan is: play pokemon alpha sapphire on spanish, pick up a bit of language use from there, and hope that i can convince the interviewer that if i hang in there i'll have basic spanish-speaking skills by job start, and conversant skills by half a year in... (that's how i learned english. middling grades until i started playing english games and watching english stuff (and lots of japanese stuff with english subtitles and pausing really often to look up words), and a few months later i didnt have to put in any effort for best grade...)

... yknow what, i think i still have a vocab notebook somewhere, time to put it to use.

I've got all the pieces but the new wig for a normal Dave, but I've also been working on a godtier. I had one before but it was my first ever sewing project, was godawful, and i can do better now. (I already did the pants and im so happy! 8D just gotta do the shirts and cape.) and the wig would be working with that as well.

My husband's Dadbert cosplay needs bleaching/cleaning/gathering together but he's gonna be that majority of the time by direct request from A Lot of people. and i'm gonna make him lil cards with "I'm proud of you" style messages. if I have enough time/can get coupons, I'm gonna make him a John godtier so we can otp it up either way. :3

 

Good luck winterykite. Once I get back to home state I am going to look for a Spanish class. I can understand the rare word. But I want to be conversational (like if nothing else I want to be able to understand soccer announcers and the rhumba music on the radio).

I gained a new fear over the last year at some point where I can't walk over a bridge without feeling like it'll collapse and I'll die. Doesn't matter what kind of bridge or how high it is. I don't understand where this came from.

Random stream of thought that I want to get out there. You guys in the US know about gla/ceau lifew/ater? And how it's called "lifew/ater?" Even though it's basically soda with vitamins added?

There's a new bottled water we sell at work that's also called lifew/ater, but the logo is spelled... life/wtr.

Like. They wanted to call it the same thing as an existing product, couldn't get away with having it on the logo, so they took out the vowels? Why? Did they get the name by covering someone's mouth while they were saying it and printing the mumbles? Life (mumbled) wtr. Why. It bothers me.

 

So, thing- RPG with a high school setting, standard classes are replaced by student cliques/stereotypes. Jocks focus on melee attacks and speed/defense, Goths are mages, Nerds focus on ranged attacks and buffs/debuffs, Geeks/Otaku focus on special moves/limit breaks. I need more classes. Open to suggestions.

 

what are the band kids and theatre kids

They could be bards but that seems to fall under nerd already?

 

Theyd make good tanks as far as the aggro part goes, and maybe could specialize in some super dazzling AoEs

 

I think maybe bard focusing on buffs/debuffs and stats effects, make the nerds more distinct somehow? Maybe give the nerds healing powers because idk who the heck would heal.
