I am afraid that I havn't met Flux either, I havn't been the ship terribly long yet.

I want to say 'one not currently hungover and in need of frozen energon' but I suspect that that wouldn't be true. And I know it would be less fun.

Yes that would be me [He smiles, all sunny] I was honestly surprised to find out that the mission didn't include a dedicated xenobiologist from the start, it seems a bit of an oversight on a diplomatic mission specifically targeted to improve relations to, well, organic planet.

I could have predicted pretty much everything he was going to say about love and feelings. And I don't need to hear that ever again. I need to hear that the things that make me happy are good. Like seriously, we may disagree about theocracy and the temple but if there's anyone here that I'd take advice from, other than Ford, it's Beacon, not Jack, because Beacon will tell me the things that I need to hear. Clover's pretty good for that too but she's a kid and shouldn't have to take care of adults."

Lissa smiles at Burlesque. "Easy there, hon. I did say that drugs, like anything else that's worth having, could be used to do harm. You're not so different. We don't have designer drugs that are specifically designed to destroy people in the world where I live, but the technology to make them existed in the world where I came from. And we do have drugs that are harmful and addictive if they're not used for their intended purpose. But see, I was replying to someone who was spouting the nonsense they teach children in school where I come from, completely un-nuanced stuff about how drugs and violence are Bad with a capital B, no exceptions. And what happens when kids who hear shit like that grow up is that either they believe it and pass it on or they start deciding that everything else you said was a lie. Some things people put into their bodies are unambiguously poisonous, and some can be very dangerous, and we should definitely make everyone aware of that. But if you tell kids 'drugs are bad' instead of 'recreational weed is for grown-ups, children don't get to take any medications that aren't prescribed because they're still growing', they're going to smoke weed, not die, and think you lied about everything. And heroin may be a great painkiller if you're dying of cancer, but I don't want the kids in my family shooting it up for fun."

Ah, of course, because why buy three drinks when you can all drink from one? Or, better, I think I'm going to drink from all three straws at once. It's practically indecent.

There are a great number of oversights in how the TEAM was originally formed, though its current command is simply fantastic at compensating for the... less than ideal sponsorship from the Council of Worlds. [He sips at his drink. That's about as diplomatic as he can be about that.]

Technically, I've been working around the Galactic Council, but my fleet of ships was operating in organic space for approximately three million years. I've only held the position I have for two million though, because it took us a significant amount of time to both soothe ruffled feathers-- sometimes quite literally-- and to put our ambassadorial suite to optimal use.

I don't see very much difference in the harm that can be done by 'drugs are bad' and 'drugs are good'. Neither gives the amount of information necessary on the subject, and while one might lead to a rebellious phase that ends in disaster, the other can cultivate a dangerously false sense of security with a variety of substances, some much worse than others, even with only one use.

'Drugs are bad' also seems less... without reason, when the opening shot was 'let's not party too hard, lest we puke our sparks up and get eaten by the homeless'. Though of course, ideally, one would have an informative discussion on the variety of forms and shapes mind-altering substances can take, and which ones are relatively safe and which ones are not, though I maintain that there are very few in the former category for mechs.
