Okay, added to the sig. I wasn't sure if that was okay. I need practice with cameras and stuff for YouTube but it has been brought up. Not sure if I should show off mixing the scents because I don't want to give away my formulae ;) But I'll come up with something. Setting up an eBay shop too, and I just emailed a couple of appropriate bloggers to ask if they want samples.

mhhh maybe not showing the whole formula but part of how you develope it maybe? Like that's an interesting thing, vlogs about the inspiration and the process of coming up with the right scents and stuff, maybe a couple of steps along the way without showing off the whole formula, etc.

Playing around with some future blends, and I made sugared magnolias and rosemary for SCP-1398, "Hateful Dead".

Set up a Patreon to deal with the huge upfront cost of releasing more stuff. Need help to build it up to something people might actually donate to.

one question: how will shipping be handled with the free samples? and are you including the cost of the bottle/perfume or is it just for the sample?

[Edit:] Also, if you make tumblr post for the patreon, i'll reblog it!

Cost would be covered by the Patreon donation, though maybe I'm offering them at too low a tier?

oh, i was mostly thinking about shipping costs to the u.s - which would be the price of the tier iirc

Ah. Yes, I'll have to change that then, I sort of forgot about that. Okay, can you advise at what tier to put them?

I might make two seperate tiers - one for americans and one for uk/europe. Otherwise make sure cost is covered to america, and then make that the tier, with a 5 dollar tier as well that gives the option to propose a name for your next perfumes?

[Edit:] Might also boost the first tier to 1.50 - just because its a nicer number in my bank account, for no other reason :p

[Edit the second:] Oh! For physical products you'll wanna make sure that patreon charges people before you ship products - there's a way to do that but i'm not experienced enough with it to tell you how to do it.

The problem with advertising perfumes is that the customer usually can't experience your product. Free samples probably aren't going to be a feasible answer to this all by themselves. People are gonna have to rely on other senses to get a feel for what you're offering. I know photos are difficult and annoying when that's not your primary concern, but shoppers are pretty much limited to sight by the format of the shop when trying to make purchase decisions. I feel like high quality, attractive, maybe even atmospheric presentations of the products could help? Anything you can do to evoke in some small way the experience you would like people to get from the scent. The name of the shop, the logo, and the tagline are already working to set a mood, and I love it. There's so much to build on there.

(Also yes, I am so, so tired of people shoving lavender at me whenever I mention relaxation. It fills my heart with joy that you are offering alternatives.)

Oh geez, atmospheric is hard... What kind of thing do you have in mind?

I love lavender myself, but overexposure means it doesn't always work that well and there are so many other options!

is it possible to get like photos of the bottles among at least part of the ingredients in a raw form? Atleast with flowery perfumes it looks really cute usually.

I'll see if there are royalty-free photos of ingredients in raw form and maybe make moodboards of them? Would that work?

maybe! but i think it probbaly won't have quite the same effect as actually getting the flowers and a decent camera and staging things properly. Product presentation is really really important especially with products that don't have a visual component to them on their own. That's why big companies spend so much money on perfume commercials

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to do that.

I think moodboards could be a really unique, awesome way to express what your scents are about!
