If Jordi was in Nam, he's looking at 50 in the rear view mirror, unless the war dragged on much longer than it did in our timeline. Since the Vietnam War was not one of those wars where kids were saying they were 17 when they were 14 to get in, if he was actual combat troops, he would have to have been born no later than 1955-very early 1956. IDK what year it is in the Watch Dogs verse, but if their Vietnam War ended in 1973 for the actual combat troops and it's 2017 in that universe, assuming he was only there for a couple of months, it's highly likely that he's around 61 at the very youngest. Even if he did lie to get in, he'd be over 55.

Clearly he's quite well preserved.

Ford hasn't said anything, but he WAS in fact an adult who narrowly evaded getting sent to Nam. And he looks as young as he does only because he's: a) travelled through dimensions where time flowed forward in a different direction, causing him to age in reverse because he wasn't native to that dimension, and through other dimensions where relative time was slower or faster than his native one; b) doing sex magick with a woman who was half his age when he married her and has a lifespan twice as long; c) a chaos magician who's not convinced he can't will himself to be immortal, provided he doesn't get shot through the heart or blow himself up in a dumb lab accident*.



* Bill Cipher said a heart attack would kill Ford in canon but Bill Cipher is a fucking liar. Statistically, it is at least 85% likely that the last words of any iteration of Stanford Pines will be "oops"...

In WT, where he doesn't know how old he actually is, @the author speaks (not his blue doppelganger) did have a heart attack during Weirdmageddon. (Bill gave it to him, though, so no fair regarding predictions.) And he's wondered if he's actually 92, because he has done a lot of wandering he doesn't remember, and time does not run in the same ways through dimensions, and he's done so much magic, and all kinds of things happen.

But you gotta admit that even in the strictest canon, including all additional materials so far released, Bill IS a fucking liar. I mean, we knew that back in Sock Opera, when he promised Dipper he'd fix the laptop.

Unless you're going to argue that he "fixed" it the way Jordi Chin "fixes" a douchebag.

to add to that I will literally kiss authors on the mouth who do anything with any of the Robins's cultural origins, especially Dick doing circus things and Damian's and the al Ghul's bedouin roots and thereby resulting likely practices of sunni mysticism. Too many authors forget about those things or don't dare to touch the more difficult bits of origin becasue they can't do it in a nuanced way OR don't have permission to confirm anything :c

 

It's not canon, but we've run enough AUs that alter fundamental core bits of the world that having a Fixed Point helps us keep things in perspective. It's just absolutely hilarious id that Fixed Point is Jordi being a hitman who could give fewer shits about the political atmosphere of any given AU.

In the rave, it's because I don't feel like making various subs, so having him aware of his state as a universal constant is both convenient and funny.

Yeah, Jordi's lying. The closest he's gotten to the Vietnam War is watching movies about it, though that's at least in part because there's evidence in the game that he just... doesn't exist, legally speaking. The reason for that isn't stated, but he's the only character whose ctOS profile consists of NO DATA-- even undercover cops and hackers have information in their profiles, though in the case of the latter its usually vulgarity, and it's not limited to US citizen, so he doesn't exist legally anywhere as far as we know.

Personal headcanon states that he was probably a victim of human trafficking and worked his way into the criminal world from there, but there could be any reason for why he is the way he is. Either way, he's pretty well known for not having strong allegiances and for being one of the best at his job on an international scale.

 

Part of the reason that Jordi talking about being a universal constant breaks Rev Ford's brain is that he is 100% Space but I think honestly that it would not be nearly so bad if the concept of a person being a Fixed Point in Space and Time didn't immediately send his mind into Dr Who territory and the notion of Jordi being the Doctor is just too fucking terrifying to fit inside his brain.

it's okay, really, to tell Alexandria off for being a dick. She's not actually well versed in the comics and only knows the stuff about them that's in the movies. I won't get mad. Promise. I might not respond right away because meetings, but it's fine to be mad at her. Really.

 

For me it's more that Jason is an incredibly violent person (who's trying to do better in current comics) with a lot of trust issues and paranoia, so I can't come up with a realistic reaction that's low-key enough to be fun for me to play and that won't upset others. If I come up with something I'll throw him back in, but in the interests of not scaling IC conflict up to eleven for now he's not there.
