Attempting WD1 again. Controls continue to be a pain, I miss my drones, but goddamn is the pace palpably different. Do one mission and WHEEE ADRENALINE.

Also I stopped to buy a coffee and the guy immediately asks Aiden if he's alright. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER BRO even random dudes can tell you're Not OK

 

I walked into the giant-ass window at city hall while fucking around on the profiler. Decided this is 100% in character.

 

I just remembered Aiden in that dumb red coat
Chip and Ironicus' playthru repeatedly called him Aiden the Stampede and made jokes about anime

 

I HAVE HIM WEARING THE STUPID RED COAT RN

 

Nothing is more realistic than the Dot Connexion mission where Defalt makes fun of Aiden's clothes, because oh, my god, who dresses you.

 

Some of the outfits don't look entirely stupid.

I love the ones that do the best though :3 -also looks at my Fashion Disaster Marcus-

Aiden am I reading this scene right? Did you RIG YOUR MOTEL ROOM TO GO KABOOM in case of emergency?

 

Hey, if you unlock the ctOS towers in different regions and get access to the fast travel, you find out that his idea of 'reasonable place to sleep' is an ABANDONED TRAIN CAR WITH A COT INSIDE. I wonder if he rigs all of his living spaces like that. What a goddamn human disaster.

 

I took a nap every time I went by the motel room because GODDAMN boy take a rest, and he sleeps like a fucking corpse. I'm surprised he doesn't fold his hands on his chest vampire-style.

 

Although I will admit, the way they did the Bad Blood DLC is pretty cool. That's a good way to handle the POV switch/timejump to avoid contradictions in the original world state.

 

Replaying WD1 and Aiden Motel Room Thoughts:

• he stripped all the wallpaper off his Conspiracy Map Wall and you can actually see the spackling from where he loaded it up with explosives (aiden oh my god)
• he apparently subsists on pizza and coffee alone
• picture of lena on the only clean surface in that entire room :(
• he's got a shitload of totes for computer equipment-- i wanna know where the dude was living before her (with damien, maybe? :3c)
• PIZZA BOX NEXT TO THE BED CAN YOU *GET* ANYMORE DEPRESSED MY GOD AIDEN
• also like half his bed is covered in more computer equipment
• does aiden sleep like a corpse because otherwise he kicks his things
• we demand answers ubisoft

 

ALSO for as much as I rag on Aiden for being a useless mess and as much as his ongoing investigation into the shooter sort of kickstarts the game, he really wasn't going to be able to avoid it. Not with Damien in the mix. Poor bastard was doomed to be a protagonist from the moment he signed on with Damien for the Merlaut job, he just didn't realize it.

(Fun stuff: Aiden going 'I taught Damien how to hack people when he taught me how to do computers' compared to Damien's audio logs where he talks about playing Aiden like a damn fiddle and knowing exactly how to make him jump. Aiden I don't think you were ever in a position to teach anything in that relationship.)

I've never actually seen the E3 gameplay demo for the first game before, but it's got a Jordi scene in it so you know I had to track it down. And you know what? It was worth watching just because Aiden continues to be the worst dumbass ever.
