Oh man I wish I could podcast. I just cannot with plot things with only audio but some of them sound like they are really good. I also used to be part of a wee bitty fandom that got real salty over the adventure zone. Thrilling Intent: homebrew/pathfinder roleplaying adventures. Big bonus for me was it had videos with little character art puppets ontop of a recording of the roll20 session. Visual aid fr the talkings, woo. But ye, TI fans getting very mad over these other roleplaying folks getting more attention for doing a simmilar thing. Let people have fun with their simmilar but different fandom.
Here's Griffin's transcribed summary of Here There Be Gerblins, it's got all the relevant plot bits, I guess. It's written in second person, cause it is Griffin (the DM) talking to his players, so that could be a bit bothersome. And here's a highlight animatic, for the sake of flavor. How the Boss battle of the first arc ends.
yeah, this is what has me struggling to really get into TAZ as well. i can sort-of do podcasts, but i have difficulty focusing on them without a visual accompaniment (which is why i really enjoy the podcasts that RoosterTeeth makes, cause hey have a video version as well.) the transcripts do help, but it's still probably gonna take me a long time to get through it. (am on episode 13. i first started trying to listen in... idk, january or something.)
Yeah, the animatics work best for me, but. Well! They're animations done by fans it would be entirely absurd to expect those to cover more than a fraction of the series, even short simple ones take forever to make.
Oh shit, it turns out there's some folks who're gonna try and animate an entire episode of the Here There Be Gerblins arc! So that'll be fun!
the only problem with transcripts is, well. I like the music! and i like the voice acting, even if it's amateur they're still pretty good. and honestly if the episodes just weren't so LONG i could manage it, but...
you can read the transcripts and listen to the audio at the same time, if you put one in one tab and the other in another
the only podcast-like thing i've been able to get into so far is If The Emperor Had A Text-to-Speech Device, and I think you're right about the visuals helping - it's youtube videos with still images being moved around, roughly? And also they start off fairly short.
yeah, animatics help a lot. hell, just storyboards that switch between still frames help a lot! i just need SOMETHING to look at.
it's weird because i don't really like videos either. but apparently very limited visuals hits an okay spot for me. sometimes i'll also put it on in the background and do something else, but that's only for when i don't really care if I catch all the bits.
Haha a really personal thing but in this small subfandom I'm in there's been a recently created discord for it And in it there's a whole bunch of,,, new young fans which I've never seen before? Back when I was really active the fandom was comprised of 20 something's, but it seems that the new population is made up of old teens Not a really bad thing but it's a weird shift plus don't know how to interact because, it's now not different from the old fandom in the sense of a clique has been formed. Haha, silly me. I guess I'm mostly coming from the fact that the Original Content is done and will not update anymore so the new kinds of fans that will get into The Content will slow down. You can say that it's this fandom's discord by name but it's only got around 10-15 active folks, most of them RPers? Because the discord has an RP aspect and channels with taken characters It's weird because if you're making this an RP based thing shouldn't there be a difference between fandom discord and RP discord with reserved fandom characters? There are a few familiar names of the old crowd in the discord but they rarely (if at all) talk. Me and my other fandom friend mostly just lurk and talk to each other about the happenings within that discord.
I saw someone suggest, in a wild theory, that aqualad might perhaps become team leader in young justice season 3. This is roughly on par with suggesting that hey - total shot in the dark - what if Bruce Wayne became Batman in season 3? It sounds far fetched but MAYBE.
That same post also theorized that he just. Left. Because the team was holding him back from being a better warrior. Because he prioritizes being the best asskicker, and definitely isn't an intelligent and strategic general who is currently playing scheme chess with the biggest evil masterminds in the canon who deeply respects his teammates and trusts them with his life. This person appears to have confused him with someone else, from a different series altogether. I'm not quite sure how that happened but I sure would like to know how someone mixed up Kaldur'ahm, who fucked up a millennia old plot with nothing but his brain and his friends, with generic proud warrior culture guy 578.
No I think they just didn't watch the show at all. This same site seems baffled that there wasn't a watchmen sequel so I suppose they are not big on the whole thinking thing.
So the headcanon posts about 'imagine a giant alien robot and their human SO annoy me. In terms of why would this robot CARE, how would this human survive on an alien spaceship, and how does this robot avoid squishing them with the force of their lovemaking. And the way it's... so consistently out of character in how these robots react to Human Things, and it's just a generic romance fantasy slapped onto a convenient character. But it's a whole new level of soulless when the human is only referred to as 'the human'. Not as 'their partner' or 'them' or anything like that. Just... "the human"
That kind of sounds to me like the alien robot is fetishizing humanity. Those weird squishy little people you like so much have names, you know! >:|
Take out the robot part and that's pretty much Rose Quartz. :P (Although considering that a big thing with her and Greg was her getting past that...)
Man, that would be something I'd actually be SUPER interested in. I'd be way more down with those posts if i had some personality to it like that. If the perspective wasn't like... so VERY human, and focused on what a human cares about (you're on your period. how would megaton take care of you and dote on you? :O) (he wouldn't). I'm kind of sad now, that there aren't posts out there that take this angle, I'm actually really curious now. Though I do have one fic idea that I'm determined to write, but it's hard and also... a weird semi-sorta nsfw Spoiler: SHAME Lactation kink Because siphoning is a thing in canon, and I've seen it eroticized because blood and food are both energon -> taking sustenance from someone else's body So how hot is it that humans are DESIGNED to do that? You mean... they have bits that you're supposed to drink from? Oh my god, that's so kinky (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) The only trouble is figuring out who to do the thing for, just because most of these robots... just Do Not Care about humans, and I need the characters to have the right emotional door into the scene, on both the giving and receiving end, and I need to get them non-silly (minimally silly) access to uh... lactating boob strap-ons :V But man, I love writing xeno from an alien perspective, and it's so much fun. I wrote alien/alien fic where it's xeno to both of them, but I haven't done aliens being fascinated by how humans are strange since way back in homestuck and I miss it.
