I'm starting to have a real hard time remembering to take my meds since I moved. I usually take them at 9 PM but with being in a place where I can be social I'm out of the house a lot of the time when my alarm goes off and then I forget.. or only remember when i'm already half asleep and can't be assed to get the executive function to get up and take them. I don't wake up or go to bed at any consistent time yet so i'm uncertain of how to fix this problem.. any suggestions?

@theambernerd do you think it would help at all to start regularly wearing a thing on, say, your wrist that is Noticeable, and to make a point of thinking 'is it time to take my meds/have i taken them?' whenever you see it until you associate it strongly with that? that's a thing that tends to help for me, although there's always the risk of getting used to it enough for it to Blend In.

Unfortunately I don't really like wearing wrist or similar decorations and I'm really really good at making things blend in >.< I'm thinking I might start having it be a morning thing?? I'll be waking up most days at the same time for work anymore, and it shouldn't be more than like... 4 hours difference on days off?

@theambernerd do pill reminder apps help you?

EDIT: the ones you can snooze on, I mean.

I've generally just had a phone alarm, it's just whenever I'm out and it goes off I just turn it off and then forget. I'll set a second alarm for pills on my work days and see how that goes

I'm wondering, is context/situation-based executive dysfunction a thing? My ED always feels worse at home. There are factors that I can think that contribute to it, but idk of it's a thing? Anyone else get this?

@a tiny mushroom Totally! I think environment very much affects the patterns I fall into, and while that can be helpful, sometimes I find myself stuck in really horrible ED ruts. Then the ED makes it harder to get out of the rut. Changing my environment makes it harder to stay in the rut because I'd have to reestablish it in a new context. It's like fighting ED with ED.

That's why most people who work at home have a specific room as an office that they don't do anything else in- your brain does establish what a specific place/room is for and get ready for that specific thing while you're there; for instance, studies have found that people overall do better on tests if they're tested in the same room where they learned the material than if they're brought into a different environment.

I've been meaning for ages to go through my fic bookmarks and leave comments on the things I didn't have the spoons to at the time. Could I ask people to help me with accountability on actually getting that done? I want at least get two posted by the end of this week, so any gentle nudging over the course of the next several days would be appreciated.

(Logically comments should not actually be that much work, but aaaah executive dysfunction and aaaah social anxiety and how do I word things without coming off as weird or stiff or uncomfortable ???? help)

    @keltena (nudge?)

Idk what counts as the end of the week, fri sat or sun, but an gentle question mark raised re: status of doing the thing

And, @ anyone, can I request a ping sometime this weekend to go get postcards for tentative penpal plans? I must show kintsugi the cool touristy stuff

btw: i remembered my meds in the mrning for two days then forgot three days in a row, so i'm going back to evening pill and just setting myself more reminders. been steady for like 3 or 4 days now and i'm feelin that sweet consistent executive function returning, huzzah

    This counts fine to me!

Unfortunately no, thing is not done, though admittedly more due to anxiety than forgetting. I may need to approach this from a different angle. Thank you, though!

@Keltkana I think if you're using A03 you can leave comments anonymously? Maybe?

You can! That's not really my issue, though (I'm not anxious about having my name attached, just about trying to put things into coherent words that don't sound weird), but I appreciate the suggestion. =)

I still remember that i have to get postcards, but due to running out of concerta that will likely have to wait until wednesday. But still checking in w thread for accountability

Speaking of "tell other people you'll do the thing so that you actually do the thing," i have like 4 things to get done tomorrow on top of my regular baseline stuff to do. I'm aiming to be done in... 18 hours from now? 4pm eastern time on sunday. Then i may frolic thru the streets playing Ingress while waiting for the bus, because no concerta so i cant drive

Aaaaaaand then i have to make a run to the pharmacy on tuesday or monday after work whenever my concerta is ready, so i have to plan for that bus trip.

THINGS I NEED TO DO TOMORROW:

    -Call Pharmacy
    -Call 401k people
    -do New Job Onboarding

can someone remind me to do these thing ~6 PM central US time? (CDT? I think)
preferably no earlier of a reminder than 4:30 cause i'll likely still be out of the house and unable to do things before I forget again
