We're good! The sparklings are currently doing their lessons with Sweep so I can take a small break. I don't think they can get up to too much trouble while he watches them. Uh. I hope?

She glances at @Jordi Chin. "I gather diplomacy isn't one of your natural talents? I agree with you that conceiving of a thing as possible is a necessary but not sufficient condition for making it happen. But I don't know that I would have said it that way."

Lissa giggles. "I think whatever he owes you is more than paid back by the way that he makes you feel."

 

Valiska chuckles. "He's having kits for you. Some would say you owe him. It's not an easy thing for anyone to do, let alone a young man."

 

[So many pets. And gentle scritches. Jordi's not going hard, because he wants to be careful of Marcus's little body, but he's definitely doing Maximum Lovins.]

Nah, he'll pay me back in actual work. Handy, having a hacker on board, especially since this one's capable of hacking his way out of a fucking wet paper bag. I got some big-ticket jobs coming up, so I'll just bribe him with those.

I haven't slept in goddamn weeks. Give me a break, lady.

 

*This is a happy cat, this is a happy Marcus. Grabs one of Jordi's hands and aggressively face rubs it before starting to groom it.*

 

"He's very tractable," Valiska observes. "Doesn't get hyperesthesia like I do sometimes. Anyhow, that's called being a parent. Ford and I have been dealing with small children almost as long as we've been together--my foster sister Getheny got pregnant about the same time we met."

 

[Jordi continues pets with his free hand, and lets the grooming Happen. He has no objections here."

I don't do children. Just because I've got 'em in a variety of universes doesn't mean I'll tolerate anyone else's. It's easier when someone else is around to pull the late-shift, but hey.

 

* Purr-grooming and then he's human again just kissing the hand and laying kind of awkwardly in Jordi's lap. Good job Marcus.*

[He's now scratching under Marcus's chin as well, rubbing him down happily.]

 

"Being annoyed sometimes is the price of having family," Valiska observes. "It's not at all attractive until you experience it. I'm guessing you didn't grow up with much in the way of family." She shrugs, and drinks from a small, elegant teacup.

"It's worth it, Jordi. I know you're not aspecting blood like my sister and me, but it's worth it."

 

Ehhh. I'm not happy about that either, that's a lot of weak spots to be opening up, but it's not like it's something we can fix, so whatever. At least my kids are objectively better than basically every other child in existence.

Also, what the fuck is 'aspecting blood'? Because if you need blood, I'm good at acquiring that. Not really my style, but I can get you blood, it's not a problem.

[Aiden is still there, drinking, though he's just been letting these conversations wash over him. But he looks smug as hell now. He's not going to say anything, and he's doing his best not to draw Jordi's attention, but my god does he have the biggest shit-eating smirk on his face.]
