Despite how cringe-worthy the anime and manga plotlines developed, how ridiculous the fandom can be, and how much of a headache the filler episodes were, there was just something special about Naruto. I certainly have not been able to give it up, even after the manga has officially ended (I gave up on watching the anime when I couldn't stand fillers anymore). Whether considering how Sakura grew as a character and a person, rooting for Hinata, or bitching at my friends about what an IDIOT Sasuke is, this series is something of a soft (sometimes sore) spot. In other words, come here to complain/gush/rejoice/reminisce about all your feels and ideas, and also to dissect the way the Ninja world is so, so utterly fucked up (this is so fucked up).
In fact, have some of my OCs in my Naruto-verse (which is complicated and basically a friend and I tossing ideas at each other). Spoiler: Lots of doodles and some WIPS
oh man naruto was my first manga ever, it will always have a small place in my heart. i never finished it though :( i lost interest around the introduction of the akatsuki; i was just reading too many different manga at once and decided to let the volumes rack up a little while reading other things and then never picked it back up (the same thing happened with one piece and bleach now that i think about it, whoops).
Oh man the same happened to me with Bleach but I was also kind of tired of the storyline by then too, it kept dragging on and on and it had that problem of "ultimate level is not so ultimate! WE UNLOCK A FURTHER ULTIMATE! WHICH TEN PEOPLE SECRETLY HAVE (yes it is ultimate and super secret don't question why so many people managed to get it and keep secret!!) ". Akatsuki was so weird when it appeared, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to care or not, but they grew on me and became BIG so it was pretty cool. Naruto also has one of my favourite plot lines for feminine girl who kicks ass in Sakura, who was someone I couldn't STAND at all but then matured and became amazing?!?! Definitely a factor in reviewing my unreasonable hostility to feminine things and to teenage girls being... well, teenagers.
I remember Naruto fondly. Haku was tiny Glassware's first introduction to androgyny, and his look definitely shaped my current perceptions of what I like for androgyny.
Haku :'D I mainly remember him from watching the first few episodes with a friend and basically bawling my eyes out at the end of that arc. What a beautiful boy. What a beautiful way to kill my heart with a complex character. Also a beautiful introduction to androgyny, kid was gorgeous.
Haku and Zabuza will always make me emotional and crying. God, that was an intense arc, with intense feelings-- I'm pretty sure it was my peak enjoyment of Naruto, even though I kept watching until The Fillers put me off too hard to keep paying attention. (Didn't help that Chouji and Shikamaru were/are my favorites, and wow were they not ever starred in anything, ever, after their fights while Naruto went to chase after Sasuke.)
Man I haven't even thought about ShikaNeji but now I am giggling because Shikamaru wouldn't put up with so much of the grandiose self-pitying GENIUS tendencies that Neji had at the start, and also they could totally snark together. Chouji and Shimakaru for <> forever, thnx
hell yeah moirails for lyfe yo or not moirails i mean if there was smooching there i wouldn't object you know
Sort of... It's an RP comm that's intended to be actually read. It's honestly some of the best writing I've encountered in any fandom. http://legacy-admin.insanejournal.com/1421.html ^thread index. It's long, fallen leaves is longer. Don't be put off by the whole rp comm with ocs things. It's brilliant. Fallen leaves was set 5? years pre-series, legacy is set around the same time but in an AU where the third hokage died instead of the fourth. I got a paper copy a few weeks ago, which is a brick. A wonderful, wonderful brick.
just wanted to put this in here: http://prozdvoices.tumblr.com/post/139611544405/prozdvoices-a-dramatic-reading-of-the-german
I'm in a weird spot where I've seen, at most, five episodes of Naruto (when the anime started I was fourteen and in my snooty 'too good for shonen anime stage' (watching Evangelion at ten or so gave me weird standards) also I don't care about Sasuke's dumb face so that made crucial parts of the plot Not Work for me) but thanks to its pure ubiquitous nature I more or less know the story by osmosis (I'm not clear on all the details but the more I hear about the last fifth or so of the story the more okay I am with that.) Anyway basically every fandom I've ever been in has at least twelve Naruto crossovers in it so somewhere down the line I decided to read the Naruto fic too. I like Kakashi. His habits of running late, being emotionally evasive, and reading filth in public speak to me on a personal level.
It's because on my Haku subaccount I use in the shitposting rave I have his user title set as Ice Princess McTragic Backstory (though mctragic backstory would be a good nickname for uhhhhh 90 percent of the characters in naruto)
