hey guys? i don't know hair terminology and i want to avoid a fight with the haircut place + avoid blanking out trying to explain what I want and wind up with.. well. something i do not want.

how would i best describe this haircut to them to get maximum results??

I'm wanting the sides and back in a bit of a fade, and to have some longer hair up top. Not an undercut persay, just.. floof that can be combed forward or back? Like.. a pixie but with shaved sides, I guess? But I don't want bare skin shave all the wall around, I'd like a taper kind of fade upward.. and every time I've ever asked for a fade since getting back in the states, I tend to get this awkward "LET ME GIVE YOU A FEMININE VERSION!!" which.... doesn't look like what I want at goddamn all and I keep having to say "yes, i am serious, buzz all that off I don't want it, stop making it swoop, I am asking you essentially for a mens cut but you're being willfully deaf because you see tiddy when you look at me." 8I;

 

i dont have a way to take in pictures short of bringing in a camera, but that is very much almost exactly what i am looking for :O!! ty

i think im just gonna take a picture and bring it in on the camera, since getting to library is not currently possible for me, esp by the time my ride would be arriving to get me. it seems like a p basic cut once they get a look at what i'm asking for and once i confirm that, yes, i do want it that short.

 

I would also be completely upfront and say something along the lines "stylists [in general even if that specific place has Offended before because hah anxiety] have made assumptions and given me a cut I wasn't satisfied with so I want to be clear, this is the cut I want, please don't deviate from it unless you check with me first."

I keep finding cash in random places round the house and I know that is like the opposite of a problem but where is all this coming from, is my cat dealing catnip out the window to the local kitties or something

 

@TheMockingCrows from a former salon employee: tell them you want a clipper cut on the sides and a scissor cut on top. If you want to get specific, tell them the guard numbers you'd like used on your sides - if you want it faded from skin like in the picture above, tell them you want a fade from no guard to a 2 or 3. If you want it to start a little longer, ask for a fade from a 1 to a 3. Clipper guards are a specific standardized length, so telling them exactly what guard you want used will help you out a lot in getting what you want. (Also tip: ask for a squared neckline if you want a more masculine appearing cut.)

Pokemon Bank patched me out (yay for firmware version 11.2.0-35E so I can use Soundhax for save file shenanigans), but my pass ran out and I'd rather update it before my living dex gets deleted.

So I went and injected CFW, updated my system, renewed my pass, and am now finishing the last parts of the CFW setup.

 

I saw one running across my floor, and I need to ask: does anyone know what it is about those completely harmless house centipedes that makes the sight of them reach down the back of your brain and press the "primal terror" switch?

I swear to god I saw some of a documentary about super deadly bugs that definitely included a section on centipedes and i have never been able to calm down about them
also oh my god just everything about their appearance and movement is the absolute worst

 

For me it's that they're small and fast and I can't properly see how they work as they move.

Make them like dogsized, and they're far less startling...

Maybe also because you kind of don't expect them to be there?
