He's also the smith, you'd be commissioning those weapons from him directly. (It's not like "mayor" is a full time job in a village of eighty. Probably even mayor + harbormaster + blacksmith isn't enough to keep him busy.) Come to think of it, the leather Arich wears, or at least the skins to make it, might have been traded for the steel for Shallows' weapons.

I was so busy trying to figure out locations, I skimmed right past that part! XD;; So if geography allows, they definitely could have met that way. I think she looks at smithing/metalwork/technology as a clever innovation that soft people came up with because they aren't as tough and sharp-toothed as her kind (there's a lizardfolk quirk about that), but it's still a nice extra edge for her, so she'd probably be appreciative of the work and effort involved.

Depending on time zone, it is probably sometime in the afternoon or so. So here is your map-reminded message!

Sorry it took me a couple days- been having acute anxiety, plus my tablet and or FireAlpaca have been on the fritz. It isn't very fancy, so tell me if there's more info you need, but here it is

I'm going to try and have a character sheet done by tomorrow-- I got bowled over by some stuff recently, but it shouldn't be too hard to whip something together.

If you should have time and spoons, a smaller-scale map that shows the area around Letek and possible routes to get there (like Arich's Cove?) might come in handy. But please consider this to be brainstorming rather than demanding. I'm already grateful enough for the setting and the game. You don't need to do anything extra for my sake.

@luna As I'm working on Vojta's background, I had a thought: Tashe is relatively young as a country, you said, but do they have significant remnants of the kingdoms that came before them? Ruins and the like? And how long ago was it founded?

@KingStarscream You know how skyrim is covered in dwemer ruins, or cyrodil in ayelid? Thats Ralune with Tomalen ruins. It's a 4 thousand year old kingdom and has, at verious points, controlled all or part of Ralune, list ground, then reclaimed it. The Zivosi Rebellion- the rebellion against the Tomalen government- happened about 300 years ago, but it has taken a long time for Tashe to gain territory, been able to completely assert itself, and gain complete independence.

As for Tashe in particular, there are ruins from the small city states or kingdoms that occasionally broke away from Tomael, but those are fairly small and only lasted for a short period of time. There are even older ruins that the locals call Szetje, or Child-Mountains, but not much is known about that civilization besides that they seemed to worship two sister goddesses and had a thing for curved swords.

Personality: I’m oblivious to etiquette and social expectation.
Ideal: Inquiry and curiosity are the pillars of progress.
Bond: I’m still seeking the enlightenment I pursued in my seclusion, and it still eludes me.
Flaw: I’d risk too much to uncover a lost bit of knowledge.

Vojta is pretty young for an elf, maybe a grand total of 90 years or so, but still hugely inexperienced with people. Most of his youth was spent in the wilds of Tashe, trying to find out as much as he can about anything that had been there prior to the founding of the country; it’s young enough that he longs to have something historical to connect to, and Enea holds little appeal for him. Scrounging around in ruins from the empire they were liberated from was basically the whole of his formative experience.

It was while he was out in the wilderness being the most maladjusted elf ever that he crafted his archaeological thesis to Peridion. He’s got a lust for knowledge that goes beyond his own concerns for safety, and was just foolhardy enough to think that parchment to draft his findings was more important than food in some areas. If he was able to connect with Peridion, it was mostly to argue about possible origins behind these ruins and whether cultural impact remained to this day-- sure, Peridion probably knew, but could he source it? He's working on a pet theory about the Szetje that involves a lot of really bad drawings of the ruins he finds, but he hit sort of a stalling out point, and started to look outwards.

Heading out to Asloya is an outgrowth of this. He wants to dig his hands into everything he can, and the site of a some massive disaster is just begging for a scholar with no common sense to come around and write a paper about it. Especially if that paper is covered in very bad diagrams about every little detail he can find. He's hoping to tie it into the ruins back home somehow, though he's not sure if this is likely; either way, he's not going to stop looking for some kind of connection until he finds it.

ALRIGHT anything I need to tweak or change to better fit the world, I'm up for. I was thinking that his discovery could have something to do with those Szetje ruins, or something to do with the Gemmaid, but I'd like your input on that. (And, I guess, whether or not Peridion would find Extremely Enthusiastic And Ill Advised Archaeology Studies appealing.) And I'll.... work on appearances and the like later.

@KingStarscream Peridion's middle name is Extremely Enthusiastic And Ill Advised Archaeology Studies, especially if it's focusing on something older than he is, which most of the Szetje ruins are.

Hm. I guess... a spot on the coast that's reasonably convenient to Letek, maybe in a little bay or at the mouth of a river, but far enough north that it's not governed or only loosely governed by the goblins. Does a spot like that exist?

Are you still accepting players? I'm a relative newbie (actually I played a lot of 3/3.5 and even dm'd 3, but I stopped playing Some ten years ago) and I've never played online. I havent read everything yet but it sounds interesting

  19. The Frood Abides

The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

@luna The fact that druids often follow the Old Gods sparked an idea, actually. Since Asloya fell at roughly the same time the Gemmiad arrived, perhaps my character believes that following the ancient pantheon will help restore Xus, or perhaps the other way around, and their hermit discovery has something to do with that.
