    The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

    @luna I think the suggestion about the discovery will actually help me shape the character, in terms of story and personality at least -- I already have most of the mechanical details worked out. Could I get the statlines first, though?

    @The Frood Abides
    Statline 1: 13, 13, 9, 14, 12, 10
    Statline 2: 11, 16, 13, 11, 10, 17
    I'll PM you some options about the discovery shortly, then!

    Thank you! I think my choice of Statline 2 here is obvious.

    So I was looking at the classes - currently there's a wizard, sorcerer, barbarian, rogue, cleric, druid and Paladin, right? I'm going to take a look at the phb and think of a character then, try to come up with something balanced; I had an idea for a couple characters but the classes are already represented.

    I mean, I can't speak for @luna here, but it's not super hard in 5e to have multiples of a class turn out somewhat different. Between different races and archetypes you can end up with a pretty distinct set of abilities. Especially with a party of this size, or if non-core archetypes get used.

    My first thought when I was reading was an Oath of the Ancients/ Emeralis paladin, but I am a bit inclined to EK fighter as well, and I could make the EK into a Valor Bard if it would be better for the group with a bit of backstory tweaking, but Bard is a very intimidating class to play because Charisma is my real-life dump stat.

    Charisma doesn't always need to be a smooth talker. Someone who is very earnest can be just as charismatic as someone with a silver tongue- it's about being compelling, not necessarily flashy. Likewise, a bard doesn't need to do songs- they could do poems, or- is Dancer a subclass in any 5e? don't think it is- dances, or even something more out there. I had an idea a while back of a "bard" with a sketchbook who quickly sketches out the compositions of the epic paintings they will make of their friends and their amazing deeds.

    I am very sorry for radio silence- I'm gonna blame the strep throat. If there's anything else ya'll need, ask now- I'm going to go for starting before November? Of course due to the nature of what this game will be, it won't be too hard for people to join and leave as needed, so don't worry. I'll be working on more up close maps of Asloya over this week.

    Actually- if anyone has ideas about what this campaign/setting in general should be called I'd be glad to hear them! Titling things is....the worst....

    Okay, I won't be any help with that bc I'm terrible at naming things myself (always feels so final)
