The little critter in the first one is trying to get at broccoli sprouts, according to the label.

I never knew broccoli looked like that when it was a baby!

 

I think that's just the box, and they're growing something in it (cress?). You can see the cotton at the bottom of the box.

 

Little critter is a hamster, probably! There might be another small, round friend with no tail, but hamsters are the most common one people keep as pets. They'll eat just about anything green and a lot of things that aren't, like seeds, and charger cables!
