Because there's so much that it's a pain to navigate through my tumblr for it, even with tagging

I'm hoping I'm not missing anything, but I'm also doing this after a weekend of travel and high school reunion-ing, so it is extremely possible that I'm going to miss something good. Also, between finished pictures, wip pictures, and patterns, I have no idea on a coherent order :P

Also, there are approximately a million pictures, and I'm going to have to split this across a lot of posts. Feel free to ignore this thread for a bit, until I finally reach getaway and the picture with a million hands. Any patterns that might ever strike anyone's fancy are up for grabs, I just ask for credit and a link to the final result.

(I also already have two competing new projects even though I'm really, REALLY trying to get back to the old giant crane project my parents gave me years ago. but as complicated as the projects are that I've done, this crane is the hardest pattern I've ever had a go at)

(potential project 1: starscream. potential project 2: windblade and starscream.)

Edit: okay, I've caught up now. I didn't transcribe the color guesses for the patterns, but the not-text patterns have guesses at DMC color codes on my tumblr posts that aren't too awful to find if anyone wants them.

    I ordered huge-ass fabric special off the internet for this, so it's going to happen sooner or later. To get his face at a resolution I was happy with, it's going to be 18''x9'' ;u;

    starscream cross-stitch.jpg

And this is going on red fabric, which I have, WHICH I FORGOT THIS WEEKEND (i specifically had to take out my black and grab the red.... and i grabbed the white). But I only just now noticed that their faces are superimposed on their alt modes??? So I've gotta do it. Also because shipping (priorities!) But I'd written this image off before because of the solid white background, when I like to fill in the whole canvas, and that much single color is hell (see: sbahj). But here, I'm going to do an off-white on white repeating geometric pattern instead of just a single color, and if I've guessed right, it's going to look really awesome.

May I ask what the crane project is :0 ? (It's probably not about you having to build a life-size crane, but on the other hand, but...
well, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if you could macgyver functioning machinery out of some, I dunno, cookie jars and a dozen safety pins :p DAUGHTER, BUILD US A CRANE FROM LEFTOVER PIZZA CRUSTS AND A FISHING ROD THANK U)
Hm, let me look what was 18''x 9'' aga- HOLY FUCK. Spock, you will die! I mean, it would turn out absolutely amazing, but... bruh! Dare I even ask... what stitch count were you planning on?
God, just... all those little stars alone. I got the maddest respect for you, friendo. ;-;7
And I love the Starscream/Windblade one. The contrast between the stark white and the rich red will look so amazing on fabric! I definitely understand re: wanting to actually fill out the white, even if it's gonna be rough, no matter what. Either way, I'm hella stoked!

I really enjoy your wips, by the way! And how you often posted a little back view before revealing the finished thing. I find those back views really fascinating for some reason.
Hot damn, though, the MegaRod is a lot bigger irl than I thought! (that's what she said etc.) I so adore the colours in it!
Generally, I feel like you have an excellent grasp on what motives work great as cross stitches.
For some reason, I really really love the colours in the Fulcrum & Tarn, and Starscream ones in particular. At least on the pictures you took, those magenta colours just POP right out of the screen!

Ahhh, the Undyne ones ;-; Adorable! Did you do them on black fabric? I totally need to steal that idea and do an Undyne cross stitch as well!
And I'm so charmed by the Cronus foot stool! What a brilliant idea!
The SBaHJ made me actually laugh irl. I'm amazed it's possible to translate shitty jpeg fragments to cross stitching.

Holy shit, Getaway! That is so delightfully creepy! The details are fantastic!
I adore the cute little CyGate and Whirl ones ;u; They're so crisp and sweet! And the Whirl bag, ahhh!

The Cascade one is still so beautiful!

Sorry for the word vomit, I just need to gush over the beautiful arts, and I'm so glad you made a thread :D
Please keep posting wips and progress! I'm so curious how the SU background will turn out.

    VERY EXCITE! VERY VERY EXCITE!

Ahhh, I'm so sorry, I've been meaning to reply to you for ages, but then everything got super hectic all at once @_@

(oops, i misremembered, it's actually a heron according to the booklet, but) OH MAN, this is a cool project. I asked for it for Christmas ages ago, years before I started the cascade project, when I didn't know any better XD It's HUGE, like... 30 cm x 90 cm, if I'm remembering right. And it's got smaller stitches than usual aida cloth. It helps that there are lots of blank spaces (even if that makes the counting an adventure). But in the other hand, this silly thing has CRAZY-nuanced shading. Its not just single colors of floss, it's a bunch of shades that are one strand of one color plus one strand of a different color. It's really soothing! But it's also super intimidating XD The pattern booklet is like... 18 pages?

    1024171934.jpg

Digging out the crane project is probably why my sense of scale got so skewed XD I am doing this on regular 14-count fabric, because I found large 14-count more cheaply than large pieces with smaller stitches :p And I've finished other projects that were in the 14''x9'' range! But I've done also done a few projects with heavy scattering before, and it's pretty easy if you block out the big colors first and come back to fill in the holes later

They're both so pretty, and Sarah Stone draws them extra pretty ;-; I'm so weak, and have such pure motivations :V

Ahhh, thank you! I started taking the pictures because I felt bad for the lack of activity on my blog, but now I love taking them for their own sake. Seeing the back views is so INTERESTING, because you can see the major color blocking and... also all the many the spots where I didn't want to go to the trouble of cutting off and starting a new thread :P But I love those pictures! Posting those is my little pinch of instant gratification after I finish stitching but before I can iron them

My big secret is that I toss images through pic2pat at a couple resolutions to find something that looks good, and then I always convince myself to go bigger so I can catch more detail XD I think for that the megarod, the biggest driver was that if I went smaller, I lost the color in their eyes, which was no good.

Oh my god, everything Sarah Stone does is DIVINE, and is unbelievably perfectly suited to cross-stitch. Painted styles in general work best, because they have the color definition to keep their shapes even when linework gets pixelated out. But even for artists like larrydraws, there are a lot of pictures where the software just doesn't QUITE work. It helps me that DMC has a bunch of really intense pinks, but Sarah Stone is just... Amazing.

(the flip side of painted stuff being best is stuff that's almost pure color blocking, like with cascade, but the big blocks of solid color don't stretch my brain and wear me out the same way that the ones with lots of color scattering do)

I did do the undyne on black fabric! Though if you work with black fabric, don't wash it. I never had floss colors bleed, so I thought I was safe. I... was not safe. So my white floss is now more pinkish, but it still loks good, and undertale is prime cross-stitch material! I still want to do woshua at some point (for next to my bathroom sink), and probably more :p

And ahaha, no need to apologize! This was an amazing set of comments to come back to! I've been doing some things that are ambitious and some that are experimental, but it's been such a fun hobby, and so rewarding. I'm hoping to do more transformers text patterns sometime soon, because they work up pretty quickly, and they're a relatively chill project if I want something I'll actually finish anytime soon :p

Ahhhh, the red is gonna work out STUNNING. And this was originally going to be for the Sarah Stone ironfist cover (was it a... cowboy bebop reference? I forget) with a red background. But I'm pretty sure I can embroider it red pattern on red fabric, just like I'm doing for white on red here.

(its the rough outline of two thirds of a plane and starscream's right cheek thing. it's really nothing easy to make out, I'm just excited about the bright fabric)

This is what happens if you ever open up to @sunderedstar and confide about something that Hurt you. You're forced (forced!!) to make THIS.

Anyways, if you're going to write about robot feet, for a series where we see the actual robot feet all the time, for the love of god, why are you giving them nimble little toes

...I'm just slapping myself for not figuring out you were talking about a birb-crane, not a crane-crane!
This actually makes a lot more sense. (I'll still stand by my McGyver!Spock headcanon >:C) What a pretty birb, though! Man, shading with different strands of colour floss sounds really cool! You can probably achieve all kinds of amazing blends with that.

Also, good luck on jury duty! Sorry things have been so hectic for you lately :c
Gosh, that red fabric really is wonderfully bright, though!

*tips over from exhaustion, spilling cross-stitch patterns all over the floor*

So you know Rewind's really really really sad goodbye message to Chromedome, which is spliced together from a bunch of different video clips? That. I have a million cross-stitch fonts hoarded away and I love puzzles and tetris and spatial thinking and problem-solving, and this has culminated in a week's worth of lost time (in my defense I've been sick and wouldn't have accomplished much else anyways)

These are huge, so if anyone tries them, I'm not sure they'll fit on regular 15''x18'' 14-count Aida cloth. I think they'd probably all make it on if the borders were really, really tiny, but I'm not positive, and then it's almost impossible to frame them. Larger cloth or smaller stitch sizes are probably a safer bet. I didn't build colors in, but there are lots of cool directions this could go. Monochrome would work, but I like the idea of rainbow text that changes color every time font size does, maybe trying to mirror that similar-but-paler in the filler/divider stuff. Doing it on colored fabric would be cool too.

Right, so last night I read this amazing Cyclonus/Megatron fic, and I was up way too late, and when I finished I was too emotional to sleep. That's the part of things I remembered. What I forgot until just now was what I did to chill myself down enough to rest. Until I minimized the internet and found myself staring at this.

My relaxation activity was transcribing entrails into cross-stitch

    @me, just.... why.
