putting quote marks around the quote makes it really easy to google!

    also
it is actually possible to recycle nuclear waste until it has very little radioactivity and doesn't need that kind of storage structure, but the same methods and reactor design needed to effectively recycle it are also methods and reactor designs used for making nuclear weapons. so that sort of building may never be built or necessary...but it also may be important. depends on politics.

ETA: also don't click the damninteresting link if you don't want to be spoiled-it still works even with the spoiler, but still.

    oh, by the way
the previous group, 1500 years ago, that breached the seal? judging by the speed Dark Horizon dies and how sick Daring is, they smashed the containment and moved things around and generally got radioactive stuff everywhere-either Daring and Dark ingested some, or a reaction has started and some of the stuff in there is now fresh.

I finished chapters 2 and 3 of Bendy and the Ink Machine today and hooooooooooooooooooo man

If you like old-timey cartoon aesthetics but also kinda find them creepy at the same time then boy oh boy is this the game for you. There is some combat, and one boss fight where I got my ass handed to me repeatedly until I found the right place to stand, but mostly it's puzzle-based. Sometimes you have to hide from the Unkillable Big Bad (or in one area, a May As Well Be Unkillable Lesser Bad), but hiding spots are just plentiful enough to give you a sporting chance and the game is usually pretty good about giving you warning when the bads are on the prowl. Usually.

It's not yet complete though. Chapter 1 is free, a bundle with chapters 2 and 3 is $10someodd. You can get it on Steam right here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/622650/Bendy_and_the_Ink_Machine/

Wormwitch I'm building a squishmallow army!

This movie has blood, flashing lights, clowns/mannequins, and people committing suicide.
Nothing good happens in a town called Abaddon, especially not in a haunted house attraction. Is it demons? It’s demons isn’t it?

Looks nice for a video camera. The glitching can’t mean anything good. Lots of flashing lights. The ambulance got there awfully fast. Almost like they were called before anything happened. Someone got pulled into the wall? So it’s either demons or ghosts.

Lot of blood, someone got dragged. Something locked in the basement? Is it still down there? More video tapes from the house. Are the police covering something up? I am legend?

Every horror movie needs the creepy one note piano scene. I feel like most of the horror movies I’ve seen involve someone poking a lone piano in a dark room.

Yes stay in the haunted (?) hotel overnight. Oooo creepy radio static, another horror cliche. Random bibles? Something about bibles where they shouldn’t be unnerves me. It implies they were brought there for a specific reason.

Didn’t think he would know how to play the piano. These guys are still kind of gross. Sleepwalking? Or possessed? Super gross. Also super creepy.

So possessed and forced to kill themselves? More suicide. They didn’t know about the haunted history? Satanic rituals in a haunted area, unsurprising.

More about abaddon the demon. Is this going to be like h.h. Holmes’ murder hotel combined with a cult that practiced human sacrifice?

This guy is so dumb. All of these guys are dumb. I feel bad for the employee who ended up killing them self. He didn’t deserve that.

Uh that’s not normal. Just staring into the basement. What’s with the weird noise in the background when near the basement? Oh that was cool. Seeing a ghost? Or possessed suit? Staring at a grave? Lot of creepy staring.

Someone else in the house with them? Or a possessed employee? More evidence of a demon possessed dummy. This is some five nights at Freddy’s shit. Speaking in tongues? Backwards.

I really want to know what’s going on. This is getting good.

Um?! Ghost or Sarah? Oh shit, is he dead now or did he just leave? He’s probably dead then. Again with the creepy piano. I can’t remember which character is which. Was Paul Sarah’s boyfriend? Or thee guy they think walked out?

Honestly I would have left before when the dummy first moved and you thought it was one of the actors. So Paul was the first camera guy. Is there some kind of portal? I can’t believe they're still going through with this.

Told them what? About all the creepy stuff that’s been happening? I forgot Sara’s name didn’t have an h. I’m not fixing the rest.

You should have left without him! Paul’s fine he just went to hell or something probably. Opening night should go fine. Everyone can tell it’s not fine. Is the actor who’s the clown the only one who dies?

Are we going to see what really happened now? Did Paul kill someone or is he the one who killed himself? I honestly can’t tell what’s going on. Cultists? She’s not going to live through the next couple of hours, and she’s still possessed. These new guys are going to die when they go over there.

Is this Sara? Are the cultists just letting her leave? If she got beaten and killed who were they talking to? How long did he have that piece of plate with him? I don’t know why she’s so excited. You couldn’t pay me to go into that house. There’s that weird back ground noise again. Maybe there were no cultists, maybe everyone was possessed by demons.

Also watched Crawlspace which was ok. Blood and gore, government experimentation gone wrong.
I just noticed that my last post was #666. Nice :toot:

Then I watched we go on. Which did not go where I expected. Movie has suicide and drug use/needles.
a paranoid man offers a reward for anyone who can show him proof of death. It doesn’t start getting scary until about 40 minutes in. He gets a call from a ghost, and the dead guy takes him to his own dead body. Then he gets haunted by the ghost who wants him to kill his ex girlfriend. He refuses, so at the ghost’s funeral his mom tries to kill the woman. He took the bullets out of her gun and tells his mom he’s just going to have to live with the ghost for the rest of his life. Then while his mom is giving the reward money to a medium he met in the first half of the film, he’s meeting with the ghost’s ex girlfriend and she shoots him in the chest. Says she can’t let him live because she thinks he’s not strong enough to resist killing her if the ghost wears him down, and she needs to look after her son. Then she reveals she murdered her ex with tainted drugs because he threatened her son. Then he flashes back to being a kid and decides he wants to live. So he comes too just as his mom is running over to him and he survives. His phone rings with an unknown number possibly another ghost and he doesn’t answer it.
also I was surprised to see John Glover in this movie, haven’t seen him in anything since smallville?

That's my new favorite video. Reminds me of how I always felt walking through my grandmas house when I was a kid. Although she lived in the US.

    Uh....

So um, very very unclear on the details, I'm not to bring this up, but her oldest son may have died in the house. In a kind of untimely way. My Grandfather may have died in the house too, I'm unclear about that.

My mother is crazy religious and terrified of things like magic and ghosts, which she believes in because to her the devil is this nebulous entity who can allow anything to happen. My sister is radically, radically spiritual - like if you started a conversation with her about paranormal things you might think she was having delusions or hallucinations, but if you sit down and talk with her she's completely rational, knows where she is and what day of the week it is and who she is and how she got there (actual things they'd ask you if you were hospitalized for psychiatric reasons). Either way to tie this together: she is absolutely convinced there's something 'with' our family. Like, it follows us from place-to-place. She recently had the family house exorcised because too much stuff was moving around without her touching it, she could hear too many people when it was just her and my father, etc. And again: she has no confusion or inability to understand what's going on around her. She can be scary logical.

I'm fucking convinced if there is something, it came from my Grandmother's house. When I was like, 4-5 ish I used to have these terrible nightmares that I was at my Grandmother's house with my family, and one by one they disappeared. I could navigate though it only by stepping in places with lights. If I stepped into the dark I'd 'disappear' too. I don't usually have recurring nightmares, but I had these for a long time. Also I seem to recall the thing in my dreams talking to me. It had a godawful voice. Or like, not really a proper voice, it was like two voices layered on one? It moved way too fucking fast, too. Everything else could be vividly normal but the only time I could kind of see that thing was when it was moving and I was dangerously close to being able to see it pretty much constantly.

And the older I've gotten the more weird shit I've heard or seen that has me like oh, well, huh, I need to leave in that house. There's only one room I feel safe in. I think the time I felt safest in the old house was weirdly after my Grandmother had passed away and we were staying there temporarily.

And I feel the need to clarify: my Grandmother didn't abuse me or my sisters, and nothing traumatic happened to me in that house that I can think of. I was just always TERRIFIED of it.

Oh all the basement kind of looked like a murder den and like, pretty sure no one died down there but on the other hand if someone went into the walk in freezer (which now that I've typed that I have no idea why she had that, she had like, two other freezers in the house) and was like 'oh shit that's a body' I'd be like 'that's unfortunate.' No one ever explained to me why there was a small damp dark 'apartment' set up down there because GOD KNOWS you couldn't pay ANYONE enough money to stay down there. The lights never all worked it was so INCREDIBLY dark because of how far into the ground it was dug it was super cold (I think because go the walk-in freezer?) and everything smelled very mildewy and felt wet.

Actually now that I'm really recalling, it wasn't a walk in freezer really? It was a room. It was cold and everything was frozen but it wasn't one of those industrial installed things. Someone converted a small room to a freezing place. Which I guess makes it a walk-in freezer, but.

If I'm back there anytime soon I might see if I can take film a tour (complete with a stop at every creepy painting you encounter along the way!! Also the closet hallway, which was efficient but a weird design) of the place. Supposedly they've done some work and I hope to god that mellowed the place out because if a building could make a sound, that one would be spitting out angry gurgled dying noises.

So to answer the question: not sure, but I'm leaning toward 'pretty cursed'.

Blood, gore, transphobia?, jokes about bestiality, vomit, spiders/frogs, naked people, eye trauma, rape.
The kid can hear you having sex. Is this one of the cop’s kids? Don’t go in there kid! Poltergeist reference? Is this a nightmare? Must have been one of the cops when he was a kid.

There’s a strange man with a meat bucket wandering around outside of a restaurant? Meat is for the restaurant got it. This is really unsettling even though nothing is happening. Jokes about bestiality, classy. And about a trans woman. Dead frog? Attacked the owner. The noise he made is horrifying. The young guy has claustrophobia?

Catchy song. Getting the call. Shrines? So they know it’s a bad place. Radio not working. They must have passed through some kind of barrier. Scratches on the car. More frogs like the one at the restaurant. Is this going to be lovecraftian? I’m getting more of an elder god vibe than a satanic one.

Lots of dreams/visions. The kid was one of the cops. I wonder if he’s dreaming right now. Yep. The crashed into water I bet. Now he’s awake. Did they hit the naked man or was he not real.

These people know what’s going on. They’re hiding something or they’re in on it. Wonder who called the cops out there. Maybe they were lured out as a sacrifice.

The hanging figures remind me of Blair witch. Eggs? The sound is good in this, it’s really making me tense. What happened to the others? How deep does this place go? I bet speechless cop is going to attack the other one at some point.

Not sure what just happened. More eggs and frogs. I wonder what it means? Splitting up is a terrible idea. Are these people willing sacrifices? They don’t seem too stressed to be missing body parts. It’s just like the dream from the beginning. Was he dreaming the whole thing? So they were lured in. A ghost is trying to tell them something?

The people remind me of the frogs. Is this Dagon for frogs? Hell is not a place you go, it’s something you carry with you. The cops were chosen.

Are they going to eat them? Are they going to come back as zombies? Is that what he’s implying? Very philosophical this cult leader. There’s the lock symbolism too. Ugh eye trauma. Where Yavuz is going he won’t need eyes to see. What does he mean don’t let him down?

None of this makes sense anymore. Are they going to make him have rape her? Ew they are. Wtf a tarantula crawled out of him. Did failing the test kill him? Are they trying to make a demon baby? He talks like he knows Remzi. Was Remzi in on it?

Did that woman just lay stone eggs?! Wtf is happening? I would probably understand this better if I knew anything about Turkish folklore. He’s been having visions of the cult leader this whole time? Is this going to turn out to be one big nightmare? Stabbed cult leader in the forehead with a random key. Did he make the key a reality by pulling it out of his dream?

Cult leader is dead. Arda is leaving the way the cult leader came in. And there’s part of the vision he had when he was a kid. He was seeing his older self in his dreams. Is he going to get run over by the police van from the beginning now? Yep. Time is a flat circle. Wonder how long they’ve been going around?

This movie was...something. Outside of some tense moments in the beginning, I didn’t feel anything but confused about and by this movie.

Just finished Beyond the Gates, which imo was way better than Baskin. This movie is about 2 brothers whose father went mysteriously missing, and they find a strange board game in his video store. It had a eighties vibe that I enjoyed. The movie had blood and gore, but it also had a nice mix of funny and creepy. There were some scenes with flashing lights but not as much as hell house Llc. Barbara Crampton is in it, evilly hamming it up!

I recently watched the Autopsy of Jane Doe, which I liked, and Neon Demon, which I liked despite the fact that there are so many flashing lights I felt like I was at a rave in my apartment, the sound editor was uh... struggling, and objectively it isn't a good movie. But it's interesting the way humans are portrayed as a predator species while not being shown as having animal traits - they're preying on each other in a human way. The juxtaposition of ancient ritual and a modern setting and group of people worked well primarily because they weren't hitting you over the head with 'THIS IS SYMBOLISM DRAWN FROM THE ANCIENT PRACTICE OF-' yes, we get it, trust me, even if your viewers don't know the exact history of this type of human behavior, they're not so stupid that they can't understand what's going on. I also think it's interesting how they portrayed the confusion that can occur when you don't know of you want somebody or want to be them. Also by and large the male characters were scumbags, which actually makes perfect sense given the subject matter, and I appreciate that the movie didn't try to pull any 'no no, see, they're creeps who prey on underage girls, but they're NICE creeps who prey on underage girls' shit. The way they worked in the concept of eating and body image without explicitly going into it was really interesting too - I think they did a really good job avoiding being triggering. The idea of the 'female monster' came from a place of hunger, and the role is sealed when they selfishly eat.

Overall, no it's not a masterpiece, the sound is so off it's amazing (I'm assuming they didn't realize until they were done filming and then they were like 'whelp, too late now'), the flashing lights are INTENSE, and we did NOT need that one scene towards the end, but. I liked it so much I actually thought about re-watching it today, and I almost NEVER re-watch things without someone else with me.

While I didn't find the game scary I did find it cute and hilarious because I really love those haunted video game creepypastas even though most of them are absolute horseshit. It found a way to make crying tears of hyper-realistic blood and glitched out black eyes something other than laughably stupid.

Also a little bit of Monika in the sun, a little bit of Monika all night long.

Dang it's creepy so far. I'm at the point where Monika restores everyone else and keeps herself deleted. I did Sayori and Yuri's route before. I thought I was supposed to change something in the files when Sayori died so I kept digging through them and googling stuff seeing if I could save her :(
Also holy shit the realistic eyes in Yuri's route.
