tripleposting because this is my life now (and also, as usual, rereading makes me scream to the heavens) but like Spoiler: MTMTE Briefcase Shenanigans, lategame TAAO, FEELINGS Okay so the point one percenter spark Brainstorm stole from Luna 1 is Megatron, in the way of stable time loops: a forged spark in a coldcon body God only knows how Brainstorm kept that spark stable long enough to play with it and eventually (have Whirl) install it in Megatron's empty frame, but the point is That Happened and we see in TAAO that at least some "normal" coldcon sparks experience dysphoria from not being able to forge their own bodies, and there's speculation if not outright subtext that this might be the reason behind Starscream's constant remodeling and tweaking his design But like.... "natural" spark or no, Megs didn't get to forge his own body either And he goes through almost as many, if not more redesigns than Starscream what I'm saying is I'd really like to see Megs' Final Form deep-coded "true" frame that he would have forged himself if he'd been able to
You know... Spoiler: Time Travel Trouble The split between the main universe and functionist universe didn't occur when Rewind shot Megatron, but when Whirl replaced his spark. A spark which was taken from the future into the past. A spark from a hot spot on the moon that is still unnaccounted for in the functionist universe. (The moon with the new hot spot being Luna-1, which disapeared prior to the timeline split, and the moon that got Rung Punched is Luna-2.) In other words Functionist!Megatron may not be dead. Functionist!Megatron might just have not been born yet.

Or more accurately, it's been almost exactly a year since I updated the rodimus/starscream. And it's been not-a-year but still a painfully long time since I published anything at all. And I had all the NaNo plans until like five separate events punched me in the face. But! Suddenly, words. Over the unexpectedly fraught holiday I decided in a fit of obstinacy that I was damn well going to take my sweet time processing my emotions. To that end, I half-seriously promised myself that the next time I cried, it was going to be about robots. On this day my dream has become reality. I feel stupidly satisfied about it. Spoiler: story spoilers I want to shake them both and I mean that in the best, most affectionate way. Rodimus, he gave you his fucking energon. Starscream, you showed him multiple energon hiding locations! I’ve not experienced food insecurity, but just contemplating the meaning of that gives me vertigo. And Starscream is stumbling through various things he’s not totally opposed to while Rodimus formulates bad escape plans. They’re both hopeless. I have so much hope. I liked it a whole lot.
Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! And I completely agree with you about the shaking. Even without them being the way they are, the whole balance of the situation is very weird and fragile to start with, but they're both trying hard to make it work... without realizing that's what they're even doing. I probably need to do more pesterlog-type fics for them next to fill in the gaps between the real-life visits and flesh things out a little more, but I have some really exciting places I want to take them. They've got at least one more visit that I need to write for sure, but a big part of the reason of why I was able to get in gear for this installment is that after that third visit there are going to be some exciting Events to write for them, and some big, big emotions to go with those events, and I'm just... so excited to get there and write it all down :3c
They are so much better at this than they think they are, or they could be if they gave themselves a little more credit and actually figured out what the fuck they wanted. Instead of tripping all over themselves and each other. Synchronized bumbling. It's so beautiful.
Spoiler: Latest LL Hm. The answer is Noodles Also, I would be very interested in having Sunder and Froid messing with Getaway’s memories as well. Sunder agreed to help out way too eagerly. Though I fucking LOVED how they cut to show all of Rung’s belongings still in the room before revealing Froid himself. It’s a very interesting parallel to earlier in MTMTE when we had Rung trying to talk to Megatron But just in general, it feels like Getaway is being written more...careless than I really consider him. Not sure how to words it, but the characterization feels a little off Poor Riptide tho
