"Missing stair" convo makes me think that if the Beforans were a metaphorical house they would be completely lacking in stairs and whatever SBAHJ might say that's not a good thing. Cronus is the obvious one but Meenah's a nonsexual bully, Kankri would count as a bully if he had any power over the others, and two of the others are planning to kill everyone.
Working on an AU, how would a human/troll mixed society work with regards to schedule? All go crepuscular and nap during the day and night?
They might go all nocturnal or diurnal, depending on who the majority group was. I think Trolls would be able to function better in the day than humans could at night, because their moons provide considerably more light than ours so “nocturnal” means something slightly different for them. (I guess it never gets as dark on Alternia as it does on Earth?) I’m assuming this takes place on Earth though. If it’s on Alternia probably everyone would be nocturnal. Whichever species has to make the adjustment is most likely gonna have some psychological issues tho.
Assuming Alternia's moons reflect enough light to stimulate the pituitary and utilizing liberal user of blackout curtains, humans could probably convince their bodies/brains to switch over without much fuss. Trolls would probably be really weirded out at the very least by Earth.
AU in which they've always lived on the same planet and Prospit and Derse are countries on that planet. Carapaces, cherubs and leprechauns also present. ETA: Go with diurnal in Derse since it's darker and nocturnal in Prospit where the sun is more dangerous?
I compulsively have to get everyone in quadrants in longfics and I feel bad because that's basically heteronormativity by another name but I don't want anyone to be left out. Also I'm bad at kismesissitude. Poly and quadrant blurring the way to go to avoid compulsive shipping-gridding?
Humans are inherently social animals. Some might not be sexual or romantic, but humans (and by extension trolls unless you're doing something special with them) need social relationships to survive. That's just how it is.
personally I'd consider the quadrants to be....neither automatically heteronormative nor queer, by human standards? I mean, quadrants don't have to be straight--but they're not always not-straight, either, so. I wouldn't really attach a thing to them either way, from a human perspective also the quadrants don't have the same meaning for humans--the people consuming the fic--that they do for trolls, and I'm not sure everyone reading would immediately make the connection between 'socially accepted relationships are straight for humans and socially accepted relationships are quadranted for trolls' to arrive at 'therefore, quadrants are heteronormativity' you can't really equivocate a fictional society's relationship setups to our society's, I don't think, at least not perfectly I mean, Kanaya and Rose are red but they're also very much gay so
Maybe human anti-poly-ness is a better comparison? Also the pairings I like don't neatly slot into grids, I end up with weird ones or people left out.
It's also possible, socially, that in a mixed-species society you'd have a lot of nocturnal trolls and a lot of diurnal humans in the same city, so the city as a whole never sleeps. Shops open 24 hours a day, trolls running it at night, humans during the day. That sort of thing. Some humans would be in night shifts, some trolls in day shifts, weird sleep schedules are more accepted because everyone's used to having a bunch of neighbours with the opposite sleep schedule to them.
I am petty and dissatisfied by the idea that now that we have the Extended Zodiac test, this means that the beta kids' trollsonas should be based on their patron troll. Because that's...literally not how anyone's ever done it? No one's gone "hey, Rose should be a jadeblood", or "hey, Rose should be an indigoblood" - a trollified Rose is always a seadweller. Their blood hues have always been as close as possible to their text colours, so Dave shouldn't be a teal either. John and Jade are the only two who are close to what their text colours were. So, Dave isn't Libries, he's Canries. A mutant-blooded Canries. (And "sign of the scrapper", with a stylized flame? Fits him much better than the stylized mountain of Libries.) Jade is Cango, or Lego; the post I saw had Jade as Cango, but Lego ("sign of the nomad") might fit too. Rose isn't Virpia - "sign of the perfectionist" might sound accurate, but she's Aquapia. John could fit as Scorus, but he might be Sagius too. Sorting them by patron trolls just feels lazy, I guess; it's not like everyone's going to be shoving the Alpha kids into their birth signs. (Having gotten bored for a few moments: Dirk would be Tauro ("sign of the withdrawn", looks like a stylized person), Jake would be Lenius ("sign of the restless", looks like a stylized snake) or Virnius ("sign of the fierce", same symbol as the jade in the trollcall), Jane would be Libsci ("sign of the absolver, looks like a Libra rotated 90 degrees with a vertical line through it) or a Scorsci ("sign of the fixer", looks like a less stylized 'm' with the third leg turning into an arrow that goes back through the body of the letter), and Roxy would be either Aquittarius ("sign of the enigma", looks like a hat over a mountain) or Pittarius ("sign of the philosopher", looks like a simplified trident with a crossbar).)
I mean to be fair I've seen people make Rose a seadweller or the same color as Gamzee, because technically violet and purple are both.......in the spectrum of purple. actually, the only humans I've ever seen be given the same blood color across the board are Dirk and Roxy--he always gets bronze, and I always see Roxy given fuchsia. outside of that, Jake I've seen be given olive and jade, Jade I've seen get jade or normal lime or occasionally olive, Rose I've seen be purple or violet, John I've seen as cerulean or Equius's blue, Jane I've seen as teal or cerulean or sometimes Equius's blue, and Dave I've seen get either mutant candy red or rust. so, like, Rose could be Aquapia, yeah, but she could also be Capripia--but I do agree that since we've never based them off their patron trolls before, it wouldn't make sense to now, so her trollsona wouldn't be Virpia regardless.
Plus in any case Jade, Rose, Dave, Jake, Roxy, and Dirk are all Sagittariuses, while John and Jane are Arieses.
Got around to taking the quiz, I'm a true Pisces like my gill Feferi! Moon is Derse and aspect is Life.. the edgy part of me is wishing it was Rage instead but I'm a little more hopeful and Hufflepuff than that... (Also medicated) I can see a dark AU version of me absolutely ruining shit as a Rage player haha. But deep down i want folks happy and not dead or in pain, so Life sounds about right.
I got Light, but I wanna be a Rage player so I can channel my bad brain shit into something useful. Question; years and years back there was a worksafe fic request meme for Homestuck, somewhere, and from it arose a fic involving the Scourge Sisters (I think) having a blackrom wedding. Lots of fun with the possibilities there. Does anyone else remember that fic, and am I fortunate enough for there to be someone who remembers where to find it?
