    because i wanted it to be easier to find. anyway, yeah, reading MTMTE finally, decided to liveblog it! gonna copy my previous liveblogs over from my vent so they're here in just a minute.

    Ahhhhh, I love seeing new people trying out the comic!!!! The EXTREMELY tl;dr version of that chaos theory 7 thing they keep telling you to read is that because [reasons], there was a guy who did a zombie clone army thing and attacked cybertron (those crucified bodies Whirl was talking to), and Cyclonus was part of that too, not as a zombie clone, but as a partially-mind-controlled tool. And now Megatron is (nominally/probably) dead and the war is over, which is where MTMTE starts.

    That's a really confusing part of the comic, because they were trying to wrap up phase one, which was kind of... an uneven, sprawling mess, and set up phase two, which begins with mtmte. Which means there's some cool writing stuff and important plot points, but they're also constrained by everything that came before that. Which is why they did the sharp cutoff-and-restart that they did with mtmte in the first place, which I think was really a good move.

    But also, in addition to the i-will-not for reading the transformers 7: chaos, I also recommend not reading Dark Cybertron, which is still in your future. It's the worst aspects of phase one with ridiculous scope and confusing plot and Just Too Much Everything, and it's a crossover event, where most of the plot is rooted in the other series and it's a confusing ride even if you have that backstory. If you skip MTMTE 23-27, at least for the moment, you're... not really missing much. There's some good character stuff buried in there, but a lot of junk as well.

    On the other hand, depending how you feel about Overlord when you reach him, a part of phase one that was GLORIOUS is the Last Stand Of The Wreckers miniseries, which has the same writer as MTMTE, so it's amazingly done and ties into this series well, and is only a few issues and pretty self-contained. It's twisted and I love it.

    Annnnd disabled characters, let me think. It's a little tricky to find any that are permanently in a bad spot, because they've got robot bodies and doctors who can rebuild a person from the ground up if they need to. Hm. Sunstreaker spent a while in a wheelchair in phase one (and basically had a service dog bug), but he's out of it now. Bumblebee had a cane in MTMTE 1, and as far as I know he hasn't lost it, but he's in a weird spot re: bodies right now, and he's a main character of the other ongoing series, not this one. GRIMLOCK. Is a big thing on the disability. But his is trauma/injury based, and it's not clear how much healing will happen. Ten don't got a voice, but you won't meet him until the late twenties or so. You'll get more information on Whirl and his claw hands and empurata in general that is... painful and I love it. And I'm drawing a blank for now on the more physical stuff, but this series is amazing for neurodivergence in general.

    (and it's a bit of a slow build, but this series only gets more and more gay as time passes, even as far as that when I was at a convention this summer, the writer called cybertorn a 'homonormative' society)

    Oh, and! Depending how much the robot identification is an issue, I made some rough mtmte robot spotting guides back in the day, though I read through with hella face blindness and it was still a fun ride i am so sorry for sperging all over your thread

    (i am also the person who went through and made a reading order with links, which i can dig up if needed (I just need to update it), but for now, MTMTE 1-22, 28-57, the holiday special, the revolution mtmte one-shot (GAYYYY), and the miniseries Last Stand Of The Wreckers is an easy first cut)

    Don't worry, you'll start running into the Really Good Stuff with them around issue 12, and then it gets AMAZING around issue 15/16 :D

It's another victim person who can appreciate an intersection between robots and homestuck OuO The backstory with what happened to Fortress Maximus is in that Last Stand of the Wreckers miniseries, which is still in the realm of optional reading, but I have a convenient edit on hand to help with context :DDDD
