Agreed. I was never a big fan of the clown boi but none of the characters in homestuck are supposed to be that simple.
I was expecting it to turn out he had his own agenda from the meteor onward, and apparently nope, he was either Just Evil or just being strung along by higher powers with no agency of his own at all, or, according to some, inexplicably both - geez, pick one.
i miss when tavros had a life of his own rather than just being vriska's punching bag hussie dropped the ball so badly in act 6
i miss when nepeta was actually allowed to exist as her own character with a personality beyond 'puns.'
I will never give up saying that NEPETA should have been brought back from the dead instead of Vriska. NEPETA WOULD HAVE DONE THINGS SO MUCH BETTER.
I saw someone hating on Tavros for making some creepy comments to Jade, and yes they were creepy, but when his autonomy is respected so little that Vriska mind-controls him at least three times and his friends hack his legs off while he's asleep, what do you expect? (I don't recall if he agreed to the leg-hacking beforehand, and I know he'd have said yes if they did ask, but still.) And I'm fairly sure his angry response to John's comment about whether Vriska was interested in marrying him was due to taking that as an insult about anyone's likelihood of being interested in him, not meant to be rapey. Speaking of, I'm also pretty sure Gamzee's outburst when coming out of Aranea's mind control was not a comment on her so much as a random string of obscenities, and the fact that "titties" was in there somewhere is not the equivalent of harassing her. I feel like the trolls are all pretty tragic characters in that they could have helped each other grow and instead they seem to all just drag each other down. The Beforans in particular.
Such is the way of humans and trolls, sadly. As social as we are we aren’t good for each other. But anyway... Have the new Hiveswap trolls for the day been revealed yet?
Idea I should bring to the Dead Dove thread; veggie trolls suffering from taurine deficiency. Someone ought to create a female-specific Fan Tier or two with an outfit as stupid-looking as the Bard one. The only thing which springs to mind is camel toe, though, which is an awful lot more creepy than the codpiece.
yeah i can't remember whether trolls being obligate carnivores is canon or just my headcanon but it raises some interesting questions
I think they're more likely to be facultative carnivores. Trolls have orange creamsicles, as any well-developed society ought to, apparently, and they can taste sweet and use it in staple foods like grubloaf, so they're at least capable of dealing with simple carbohydrates as a matter of course.
Those are some really good points that I hadn't really considered until you brought it up just now. I definitely agree.
