I found out the other day that Mark Hamill showed that to Carrie Fisher while they were filming TLJ and she thought it was great, and this was one of the best things I could possibly have found out.

Also re: birding, my grandma used to just give up sometimes and say she saw an LBB (Little Brown Bird).

(I also went to a summer camp when I was a kid that recorded bird sightings and had on the list, "UFO." Unidentified Feathered Object.)

There's a pretty well-known pro Overwatch player with the username A_Seagull.

Whatre peoples opinions on coming across someone who has the same name as you? Generally i tend to get a "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE" feeling that pretty quickly passes, and in longer term relationships im usually the one with a nickname

I'm used to it because my first name was the most popular name for girls for a few years around the year I was born, and my last name is super common.

My middle name is often paired with my first name too, so no help there.

back when i went by my birth name, my reaction was just "another!" because it was super common
oddly enough, now that my name is something less common, i definitely have the "there can only be one" reaction

I've never had a classroom with less than two people sharing my birthname, so I'm....... very used to hearing it on other people. It might be part of why my online pseudonyms resonate with me more-- I haven't heard it a million times in reference to other people yet.

edit: That said, every time PR shows up in reference to Public Relations, I get a "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" moment, so the credits to movies and games are an interesting experience.

  11. I consider other people with my name to be Not Worthy because I hold myself to very high standards, while they usually... don’t, frankly.

  12. Elaienar

    Elaienar "sorta spooky"

I have a somewhat common name with many variants, and only the exact spelling that I have counts as My Name. Among the few people I've met who have My Name, I'm the only one I can think of who doesn't go by a nickname. When I encounter My Name in other contexts, I think my initial response can be summarised as "????"

  13. Everett

Everett local rats so small, so tiny

I encountered 1 person at my school growing up with my name, and she was like 6 or 7 classes above me. The second person was my high school principal. My reaction is usually "it me? Ah nvm it not me." But i have that reaction to Everett now too (more of a username than a name tho)

Edit: not to say my birthname is super rare, but it was rather uncommon for my birth year (chosen for Sentimental Reasons dating back to like the mid 1950s), so i definitely heard of other people with my first name but not really anybody i *met*. According to google my first+last name is relatively rare as a combination too

I’m not even particularly attached to my birth name but apparently I’m v possessive. Oddly enough I don’t feel the same way with internet handles. I’m like oh cool we have a similarity.

  17. budgie

    budgie not actually a bird

My birth name was a v common name for girls, to the point that I once went to the principal's office because they'd summoned [my first name][my very common last name], only to find out that they'd wanted someone three grades below me. My reaction was always pretty "Hello, fellow [name]!"

My name is now the masculine version of the same name, but oddly enough I haven't met anyone else with the same name.

On that note, I don't think I've ever met a Quinn that wasn't part of the community.
