Sachiko btw can make permanent structures, but it takes an amount of power that will put her in bed for aweek unless someone is feeding her power. Several someones, ideally.
Speaking of, thoughts on powercaps "horrifying consequences beyond this point" ?

 

Probably degredation of the body, since they aren't technically human anymore, just shells for the power that is manifested through them.

Now, if you want that to show up in a Yuki Yuna sort of way with crippling disabilities or with more of a Madoka-sans-soul-crystal way with the shape of the body permanently warping from something recognizably human into something horrifyingly not is up to you, but generally girls who gestalt past the point of return end up dying anyways--it's not something you do unless you're up against overwhelming odds.

The girls can probably feel when they're getting to that point though; the more power you use, the more exhausted you feel, and it starts to feel like your skin is splitting apart with the force of it.

(That's also why doing things the way Sayuri does, staying in magical girl form permanently, is not recommended; the shell has a chance to repair and recharge when the power is dormant, but is much slower to do so if stuck in meguca form.)

 

Was thinking over use would cause Sachiko to slowly meld with her own creations until she´d become a sentient building, which wouldn´t do her mental health any good. So more on the body warping side. Not planning on going there with her, just kinda mapping out the outer edges.

Other things to be done with external powersource only: animate permanent buildings, regardless if hers or normal ones. Even higher cost than making a structure permanent/physical. (Going by an external powersource or maybe another person to spread the load and make it possible. in story terms, team up upgrades but even then to be used only occaisionally)

 

playing with the idea of Miyako having relatively little raw magical power so she has to be incredibly careful and often skirts close to her limits if she doesn't strategize incredibly carefully.

 

Sachiko in normal human mode: She´s average height for a japanese woman, with black hair and dark brown eyes. (They only go blue in meguca form) Pretty fair, tends to dress simply in dark colours. Does usually wear her hair in a topknot. She´s in her twenties.

Miyako is actually blonde in her normal human form too but her hair is kept short and she looks a lot more plain and unassumingly feminine than as Lyricist

 

Sayuri and Hanako both have dark hair in their human shapes; since Sayuri doesn't go human anymore, she's never bothered building a wardrobe for her human self, but Hanako works in her family's shop when she's not doing magical girl stuff. Most of her clothes are pretty plain, and she tends towards more tomboyish outfits.

A quick concept for how the battles go sometimes:

Sometimes it's more like how Sailor Moon does it--it's all in the Real World, the environment is Real and the enemies are Real (and the civilians are Real) and the pressure of magic is harder because the way magical girls are built is designed to function primarily in Cosmic Battlefields that aren't usually that solid, physically speaking.

But sometimes it's more like the witch domains of Madoka; these reality warping dimensional battlefields, where powerful demons have hordes under their control. These are more like the battlefields that fully enlisted magical girls would face once they committed to the war effort and left Earth. Characters like Miyako and Sachiko might get a power boost here (because of how they rewrite reality) whereas Hanako is technically lower-tier--it's not that she loses power, so much as her laser/lightshow powers in the Real World carry much less effect in these kinds of warped bubbles.

Sayuri is probably equally strong in either space, and her clinic is basically one of them. Demons aren't the only ones that make those bubbles, but most magical girls are shipped off planet by the time they've figured out how to do so.

 

Hmmm. Sachiko can likely construct more in magical enviroments, but she can use existing archtecture in the real world so.

 

Also, for your consideration: Magically Sognificant Jewelry still being a thing, y/n? Since their outfits are basically part of the shell that makes up their bodies, I’d imagine it’s not something that breaking would do anything to... as long as you’re transformed.

But maybe when you aren’t in magical girl shape, losing that necklace/ring/bracelet/brooch is as good as getting hit by a truck for your survivability rating.

Thing I´m wondering: What sort of scope of pwers are we talking about for the fighters? I´m considering removing the restrictions for sachiko on animating buildings but I don´t wanna go OP.

 

Honestly I’d say OP girls aren’t a bad thing—Usagi pulled some Nonsense, Madoka turned into God, and these are basically girls that are getting finetuned into nuclear bombs. Having a girl that can potentially modelock and entire city would be a massive boon in the war effort... while still being limited enough that three or four more girls could easily pop up in the same area with rapid turnover.
