So apparently B.O.T. is considered to be the Worst Transformers Episode Ever. Just read the errors list. How far did the G1 watch get?
I dont think we've seen that. Also I have to confess G1 is honestly kinda charming by now. Utterly silly but darling
TIL that the Bayverse has ended! Hasbro pulled the plug on 6, is going to "reboot" the live action franchise and Bay is stepping down.
We did see B.O.T. It was confusing and a lot of shit happened with little to no setup, and that was a really strange school project with kids who worked together oddly well given the weird pointless malice. But that entire season was so weird that episode really didn’t register as particularly out there to me. Spoiler: let me share my critical onions I personally found Enter the Nightbird more obnoxious as far as 80’s misogyny (she’s an ambiguously sentient, remote controlled Japanese ninja lady who gets decommissioned at the end of the episode so they don’t have to bother with her again, and I love her because that’s not her fault, but come the fuck on, the 80’s) and Thief in the Night the most embarrassing to watch with friends from other countries (it’s like a bad satire of the laziest xenophobic crap my country has to offer but they’re serious, and I don’t understand how we went from previous depictions of other countries that seemed well-intentioned if sometimes clumsy and ended up in the nation of Carbombya). It’s one hell of a trip and even with the weird bits I also think it’s somehow extremely charming. Damn but that wiki page is hilarious though.
idk if anyones posted it here but idw is rebooting everything after the unicron run! its very foreboding and frightening but im hoping maybe theyre taking an opportunity to have a Fresh New Start with something new and fun. i want a good series w girl tfs..... im really hoping LL's ending isnt rushed also augh.. im like personally very worried about losing the diversity & gay robots. ofc i know if jros going to be part of establishing the new canon he'll probably make them all gay again which is top tier and good but im still very afraid they'll go back to catering to like edgy fanboys or something instead
....rebooting EVERYTHING? But I don't want to go back to 'Everything is sad and we're back in the endless war and it's all autobots vs decepticons Choose A Side.'
I really hope it's a "soft" reboot and more of a jumping-on point for new readers, bc I'm like 80% sure if they reboot completely it'll be the war again forever. A lot of the reason I like the comics so much is that it's like, okay we've done that, how do we move on from here? Also that it keeps the gay/ladies/gay ladies etc. and doesn't go "good guys, bad guys, explosions, the end".
Hey does anyone have Weird Merch ID Skillz? Because I bought myself a box of Japanese.... combiners....? And google translate can only get me so far :P Spoiler: big pics Near as I can decipher it's Dai Atlas and two guys named... Roadfire and... Sonic Boss Bar? Maybe? C2 seriously confused Google and I don't know enough Japanese or G1 robots to recognize him myself :P
I searched TFwiki for Sonic and found this: Big Powered (Multi-pack, 1990) ID number: C-353 All three Powered Masters (Sonic Bomber, Dai Atlas, and Road Fire) and their Micromaster partners were also available in a great big gift set.
I kind of hope that if they do go back to the war it’s a hard reboot, because most of the main characters have had so much character development and putting them back into a war setting would just go against so much of that. Of course, my preference would be for soft reboot and keeping the post war setting because it’s a big part of what got me interested in the comics in the first place - the sense that they were trying to move on and build something new despite all the tensions that were still around. As for the gay robots, I can’t really imagine the series without them, especially if the same writers stay on, but if they did take them out there’d be nothing that would stop me reading faster.
An accurate depiction of what happens in my head every time I hear a comics publisher might be planning changes with an ongoing:
Today in weird, irrelevant pet peeves: why is the word used for extraneous bits and bobs on the armor kibble? Kibble is dog food! The word that actually means "a bunch of stuff of no useful function" is kipple. Kipple.
Because... the old toys shipped with a bunch of interchangeable parts that reminded people of pet kibble :P I Shit You Not
