First off, no I'm not dead. I'm at a new school and that's kind of eaten up a LOT of time. Anyway, I had an idea that we could have a Kintsugi trading card game! It would be a bit like Pokemon/MTG but instead of electric mice, we have Kintsugijin as the pictures! If people like this idea, I'll start making some of them. They wouldn't be physical cards, but it would work on the honor system. If you don't have a card, don't pretend you have it. They would be picture files, and you would trade them and then not be able to use that card because you don't have it anymore. Should I use a Pokemon, MTG, or generic template?
I had plans to make a few at the start, and people would have 2 of their own card, if they have one (one for trading, one to keep). The other ones would make their way into circulation through either requests, winning a contest of some kind, or on holidays, where I'd make a bunch more.
So I thought about it for a while, and here's what I came up with: 1. Cards are achieved through events, giveaways, holidays, etc. 2. Cards are created whenever someone makes a quality post or at Community Milestones (such as a month on the forum, getting a certain amount of replies/likes on a thread, etc) 3. Having 10 cards will allow you to level up your card by combining them into 1. This is known as a Card Set, or just a Set. 10 Card Sets can be combined into one Legendary Set, which combines into a Mythical Set, into an Ultimate Set. Ultimate is the highest set of cards. 4. If someone creates a Card Set, a random user (if you're on more, you're more likely to get one) will get a Card Booster pack. This contains 5 random cards, or a slim chance of holding 1 Set and nothing else. 5. 1 Ultimate card is worth 10,000 of the base card. Keep this in mind when trading. 6. Any user who collects 10 Ultimates of their own card not only deserves a round of applause, but can also combine them into the Godlike, then the Kintsugi level card. The Kintsugi level card is worth 1,000,000 of the base! ONLY THE USER WHO THE CARD IS NAMED AFTER CAN DO THIS. 7 though 98 (long story short). No cheating.
1) your example card image broke ): 2) maybe you should keep a database of who has what cards, if you are invested in keeping track and preventing cheating? 3) how will you determine card worth?
1) will fix, sorry 2) I'll do the database when I start making cards 3) card worth is no longer a factor, but rarity will be
ALSO PEOPLE: If you want a card made, please give me an idea about what the flavor text should be! It's hard to come up with them on the spot when I barely know most of you.
Thinking of using http://www.lackeyccg.com/ for the database tracking /card creation stuff. Any ideas? I could always just write a program for it, but if I don't have to, I don't want to.
Lackey's a bit basic, but I think I can make it work. It would also make card duplication almost entirely nonexistent.
Downloading it on my painfully slow Internet connection, will try to set up a basic game plugin for you guys. Links n' stuff as they become available.
Ok. If someone wants a card made of them, please tell me the flavor text and the subtext. Otherwise I'll just put in your Title as subtext and your status as flavor text. Then I'll start keeping track of the number of cards people have.
