Not sure if you're aware of this since I don't see it mentioned in here, but online TCGs like you describe here are actually a thing. (They don't really have the "game" part, I should say, they're just about trading pixel cards.) So if you want to do something similar, you might try looking at some of the games that already exist for ideas? Trading Academy is a current one, and there's some older big ones like Moonlight Legend that a lot of TCGs have drawn ideas from.
The second link says that that's broken. But I'm not going for the whole battle cards thing. Just collectibles.
Does it? Weird, it works for me. And yeah, that's what those are, just the collectible part. I only mentioned the battle thing because I wasn't sure what you were going for exactly.
