Also an autodidacts forum esp language practice partners?

 

So proposal: a forum dedicated to Kintsugijin crowdsourcing self-teaching support and accountability with subthreads for things like fibercrafts, programming, French, Russian, sports, drawing, etc, a place to show off our results and a place just to mope and get support when we need to believe in the Kintusgijin that believe in us.

I feel like this could also be helpful for those of us looking for specific advice or practice partners (personally I need a conversation partner in French and a Russian learning buddy). However, for all things there are specific tips and tricks to share and ways to be recognized for advancement by people who know *just how hard that particular thing is*. Just a thought from an unrepentant autodidact.

Do we have a thread for gifting games or trading them or anything like that? I got a free copy of FTL and realized that I still have two copies of Undertale whose intended recipients back in the day never claimed them/bought it themselves. I'd kinda like to share the joy, but the two Steam threads are kinda about the specific sales.

Hm, it seems like Make It So is for individual posts about single topic ventures and multiple communities of learning would be hard to track in a single thread - and hard to navigate at a glance for those going there not specifically for a single community but for the impulse to learn a new thing and browsing for said new thing, hence the proposal for its own corner.

Is there one for Facebook behaving badly? I see the racist relatives one but that's kinda specific.

 

I think the FB thread has been used for all manner of "people being shitlords on Facebook" because I've seen some non-racist garbage pop up in it too. (The Bad Content Breakdown Jamboree could also work for that, since it's for more general internet bullshit including twitter and the like.)

 

Do we have an accomplishments/things-you-did-that-you're-proud-of-and-wanna-brag-about thread?

@Re Allyssa and I were talking at work and we were saying it would be nice to do a thread that is like a Kintsugi job postings board - so if your company has openings you'd like to make Kintsugijin aware of you could post there, but more than that we've both had jobs that are good for particular sorts of people, stop-lossy jobs, extra income, work from home - and I think these might work well for Kintsugijin who are in a position to take some sort of work but don't know where to start or what would be good for their particular brainbugs (like, when I was depressed I could log into one of my jobs and make some side cash on demand on a work from home basis when times were okay). I'd love somewhere to recommend those experiences, link to them, standardized tags for things like 'work from home' or 'no fixed schedule'. So like Kintsugijin job resources.
