My debit card seems to think I'm trying to commit fraud on myself and won't let the transaction go through, so I'm going to have to call the bank tomorrow when they're open and sort it out :( In the meantime I went ahead and sent the etsy message.

 

okay so unfortunately the problem is that you're in Ireland and my debit card can't be used for international purchases, at least not online. Have you had this problem before? Do you know if I'll be able to use paypal, or will that also be blocked? I'm going to give it a try as soon as I can convince the website that i am in fact myself

I'm not in Ireland, I'm in England, but no, I've had international buyers before. Paypal should be fine.

When I called the bank they said the charges were coming from Ireland, so idk what’s up with that. Maybe they just read it wrong or something.

 

its possible that's just the payment processor's location.

 

Is there anything I can do to help? I don't know how these processors work.

I think it's pretty much sorted out now. I managed to confirm my identity with paypal, now I'm just waiting for the money transfer from my bank to my paypal balance to go through and then i will FINALLY be able to click the checkout button on the tab ive had open for like a week now :P I'm guessing it won't take more than another day or two.

I don't think any of the problem was ever on your end, for what it's worth, it was all due to my bank's policies about international purchases. You might want to put up a warning on your shop that overseas customers won't be able to use a debit card to make purchases? But I don't know if it's a universal problem, or just with my bank, or with credit unions in in general, or maybe with mastercard.

I used a debit card from a credit union (US) so I don’t think it’s a credit union thing either.

 

Banks are usually pretty suspicious about payments being made in any other country in my experience, they probably flagged it on grounds that it might be identity theft. You might wanna call them and find out, last time i had that issue i had my card frozen for a bit, though idk if your bank would do that.

 

Also, i bought a large bottle of The Sculpture, how do i use it in a diffuser? I've never done that before.

that might be a good idea. Also... Idk what kind of diffuses there are really. I'd like one that isn't also a humidifier if possible though.
