so, yeah, like, we already have a gravity falls thread so maybe creating a cartoons thread now is a bit cart-before-the-horse but... what the hell, i'm doing it

so, anyway, my absolute fave cartoon is fairly oddparents, which contains my absolute fave character ever, norm the genie, and i'll admit that i pretty much created this thread in hope of finding more people here that are familiar with him 'cause yeah... it'd be awesome if i could sperg about him with people on here.

and other cartoons/animation stuff that i particularly like:
xiaolin showdown (fave character is jack spicer, otp is chack), avatar (atla + lok), disney movies, madoka...

probs also a few things i haven't thought of right now

    so yeah... cartoon thread!

Jing, King of Bandits (Ok yes, I mostly just read the manga, but the anime is still great)
I keep getting into animes, hitting the filler episodes, and wandering away. *cries over Bleach*

I actually didn't realize how many other people liked xaolin showdown, but my favorite weekend cartoon was definitely Spider Riders. I think it's because the main character's name was Hunter Steele. It's such a great name for, like, a 14 year old.

    Oh! And the GetBackers.

Seconding FOP, Xiolin Showdown and Jing:KoB (I own all the manga, sigh, i love rereading them, the anime is amazing)... umm other cartoons, I'm really into the marvel cartoons right, Earth's Mightiest Heros being the series im currently watching right. As for some older cartoons, Sailor Moon, Digimon, the first Yu-Gi-Oh series, Beyblade... Courage the Cowardly Dog... there is more, i know there, but i cant keep my eyes open...

FOP! Yay! (Now I'm just wondering if you're familiar with my fave FOP character, Norm the Genie, since yeah...)
    Xiaolin Showdown! :D
    Awesome!

And I've started watching Sailor Moon. Have watched about 77 eps so far.

there's an anime?! gotta put that on my watch list asap

i honestly couldn't decide if i loved or hated spider riders, i watched it every week anyways. it's one of my top favorites.

it'd actually be much easier and shorter to list the cartoons i don't like tbh! cartoons are great. is anyone else excited for SIX new steven universe episodes next week? i really hope they arent cancelling the series, i'm too afraid to check if they are or not >_>.

i love xiaolin showdown! raimundo is still a big fave.

i can quote, word for word and on exact tempo of word flow, nearly every spongebob episode season 4 back as i watch it. it creeps a few people out.

for the movie side of things, i really prefer 2d stuff. i guess i'm old fashioned like that. my brain always tricks me into thinking i'll hate most of the 3d animation in movies (the croods, the incredibles, tangled) from the commercials; i usually end up loving them (with the very notable exception of Madagascar 3, the only movie i've ever walked out of in theater)

and i think you might've already mentioned to me that you like xiaolin showdown, but, just in case: awesome!

steven universe is pretty cool. i like that it's getting into an arc about the gems now, instead of just focusing on steven's "ordinary" life. magic (and sci-fi but that's not exactly relevant) world building is awesome!

i think i prefer 2D stuff too and it's sad that it has pretty much vanished from movies lately.

haha i remember when afro circus (from that movie, i believe) was a meme on tumblr. i so didn't get it.

I love animation so much! I actually took a class in art school called History of Animation where we basically just watched cartoons and discussed them, everything from the animation to the sociopolitical climates in which they were produced and how that influenced them.

I really love Gravity Falls, as you know. I'm also a HUGE Futurama fan, and I also love The Powerpuff Girls and The Simpsons and a bunch of others.

Also, thirding the preference for 2D animation. I've got no issue with 3D itself, but I think 2D tends to look prettier, ya know?

Courage the Cowardly Dog? I hated and loved that show as a kid. Now I just love it, but wow it was creepy. Did anyone else watch Teen Titans? Cause the Gaming Society at my college (we don't actually do any gaming, we are very bad at the whole 'gaming' part of gaming society) all rewatched that.
We also watched Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall like five times in a row. Yeah.

over the garden wall was so weird, i loved it! have you tried watching teen titans go yet? everyone complains about it but i thought it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it was gonna be. it's just innocent (as innocent as it gets nowadays, anyway) humor. the characters themselves have essentially been ripped to shreds develpoment -wise, though.

ya'll might like legend of korra, it seems to be another cool action-y animated thing.

Over The Garden Wall was completely weird, it was great.
I've seen a couple of episodes of teen titans go, didn't really think much of it. I was half asleep anyways, so I should probably try again.
    Korra was also great.

Haven't seen Over the Garden Wall and am behind Gravity Falls (sob) but Korra was amazing. 2d animation is best, but there are some 3d movies that are pretty good. Need more 2d movies though. someone should start a petition XD

Gotta catch up with Gravity Falls (might be just three or four episodes, no big tragedy), and I still gotta watch Over the Garden Wall at some point. Recorded it a while ago and I've yet to watch it.

Also on my to-watch list is the rest of Welcome to the NHK, the Digimon marathon I want to do just now, finish up the Pokemon "marathon" (seriously though it's been like... an episode per day at this rate).

I am in love with Phineas and Ferb. Though it's hard to come by originally voiced episodes in my neck of the woods, so I haven't seen it in a while.

I also really love The Penguins of Madagascar animated series. They have been my favourite characters since the first Madagascar film.

A while ago I also rewatched most of Ducktales, because I am just a huge Donald Duck fan in general (really, you should see my comic collection...)

resurrecting this to say that I'm still really fond of original Xiaolin Showdown and I wish there'd been enough time to see what all the heroes would've been like evil because i'm interested in that kind of shenanigans.

(evil Kimiko would be terrifying, I'm pretty sure. she's the only one to try and fuss with the Wu and figure out how they work and how to combine them, she's the best with technology - and also she's my fave)

(is there any good fic about her that isn't shipfic. )
