3am kastilin thoughts: bloodborne but the hunter takes snaps during the whole thing Spoiler: caption: check this shit out
I actually liked this one enough to print it out and put it on my wall! Spoiler: why yes I did fuck up the date again I highly recommend to any of my fellow all-digital or mostly-digital folks, get your shit printed out sometimes, it feels great.
Question; has anyone else noticed their drawings of people look better with proportionally huge heads? I'm not sure if this is me making more room for the face, or because I learned to draw with cartoon animals and their heads are long and flat rather than tall like a human face so measuring height in heads is thrown off with them.
I actually notice the opposite--my heads might be a bit larger than they should be sometimes, but I frequently end up resizing them down. (Then again, I don't actually measure my heights in heads that often, so I might be full of shit here.)
I almost always find myself adjusting head size down at least a bit because I tend to draw them too big at first.
I probably should but they look wrong to me with smaller heads. Then again I'm also convinced my own real head is proportionally too small for my body, so maybe it's just a complex I have.
There's also stylistic differences to take into account--your style might be completely different from mine. Sonic and Pokemon characters tend to look a bit odd with smaller heads, because the rest of the art is built around the size they are now--compare that to something like superhero comics, which might have larger heads than 'realistic' but aren't, like, Lucky Star levels of head size, and would look really weird with heads the sizes of their torsos.
If you're careful to measure out exactly 7.5 heads then the head always ends up too small, in my experience anyway.
yeah, i think it definitely depends on the style, some people's look great at 8 heads, some people's look perfect at 5 heads, etc i eyeball my measurements most of the time, but i've been leaning towards smaller heads lately and am usually happiest around 7 tall when i do measure, but that's just for my specific thing. i use a lot of those as guidelines rather than rules, too--hands end around the hips but if an arm looks too short or too long i'll change it regardless, and so on
