That´s good to know, but not exactly what i mean/need. I have a mannequin head but it´s way smaller than my actual head, hair or no hair. to beable to style my wig a bit easier i want to make it bigger so i will have an actual idea of the effect on my real head.

As someone with massive hair who struggles HARDCORE with this, where could I buy one?

Ohh so you need to fill in the space between the netting and the mannequin head? Am I reading that right?
Here, it's basically a big tube of fishnet material that you twist your hair up in and then double it back onto your head. I'm not sure if it's good for extra voluminous hair or just really long hair though.

Looking at the reviews, it seems like a lot of the positive reviews are from people with long thick hair (mine isn’t CRAZY long but it’s long-ish, and it’s very thick) so that’s super promising! Thank you so much! <3

Mostly? It´s less about that one wig and more about all future wig projects, why I want a more accurate mannequin to style on. (Will also need to weight it somehow, it keeps falling over)

I'm hand-sequining this bad boy and I think I underestimated just how slow a task that would be. Fortunately I don't have a deadline on this. (That's some of my cat's chub on the left side of the picture.)

Belated, but thank you for this--I got mine in the mail the other day and it seems to do the trick quite well! :D

So the chances of me finishing my Sadie top by Thursday are vanishingly low, but here's a quick Mystery Girl costest!

:Screams and falls over bc only 4 days left to work on stuff before we go and i need to: paint the shirt, make the headset, finish another shirt repair, make a set of pajama pants, find a wig cap bc mine are all gone, cut and paint and glue replacement timeturner wheel covers, pack, then pray i don't die when we finally get there bc just trimming that fabric earlier killed me this is a ghost typing all of this

so today, following the span of multiple sleeps and a big pain episode, i completed...
    • repaired and revamped + improved rose's shirt back, located the puffy paint for the front, and also made a fabric headband to loose stitch to the wig on thursday so i can remove it to wear as Dave on Saturday easily. it looks cute as fuck now, im ngl.
    • made pajama pants out of the material i'd trimmed. it's not that good of material but hey i dont need these to survive forever tbh.
    • located my shorts
    • found 1 wig cap
    • and made the prototype of jane's mustache headset function. i'll be replacing the stache with a properly painted one for the full version, but the headset portion is more Done than it was before.
    i feel less overwhelmed now, aside from jane's shirt that I'll be tackling tomorrow, but it doesn't feel impossible now at least ;c;

    jane shirt: COMPLETE AND CUTE
    mustaches: MOSTLY PAINTED

gonna finish painting staches tonight then seal paint them tomorrow. the communicator one looks Perfect imo but i want it shiny so it'll be sprayed too. the rest of the staches are goin' in the Stache Bag and i'll be giving them away for funsies. which leaves heat sealing the jane shirt, cutting out and painting the gears for the bottom section of the timetable wheels... and hemming the pants cuffs.

im gonna make it in time, i didn't fuck it up. i just need to hurry and keep shit rolling bc tomorrow's gonna be busy, i won't have all day bc errands and appointments and visiting friend. but majority is Done now.

Okay so I'm trying to make a dragon costume for a con, but rather than using fur or scale patterned fabric I'm wanting to do the knitted scale mail. The problem I'm having is I can't find any decent scales that aren't made out of aluminum. They're pretty and all but I don't want to walk around sounding like a bag full of pennies plus I'd imagine that would get heavy after so many.

They do make plastic ones but they're translucent and I'd personally don't care much for that. I'm wondering if there's a way to paint the plastic ones that won't rub off if scratched or bumped or if I'd be better off trying to make my own somehow.

I'm needing some help cause I'm at a complete standstill.

Edit: I've thought about what if I got the clear plastic scales and painted just the undersides of the scales with maybe spray paint or something? You guys think that might work?
