hard meringue cookies are The Good TextureTM as for cake and pie, usually prefer cakes just bc some pie crusts are Bad Texture for me but usually if there's an issue with cake it's something I can scrape off
I'm a fan of pies, especially savory meat pies but honestly I love pie crust a lot. Cake is second only because I really, really dislike icing that's not cream cheese, though. As for meringue, I like the cookies but I'd prefer whipped cream on pies.
Pie for me as well. Cake tends to border on the too sweet side of things. Also I accidentally discovered the other day that General Tso chicken is greatly improved with the addition of vinegar. Which is saying something since it's already one of my favorites.
I love pie crust and my favorite version is probably something savory, like a good cornish pasty or a samosa. (Slight variations on the pie crust theme.) But I also really love some cakes. It would be hard to choose. My husband and I used to make a mean lemon meringue pie. I'd make the lemon curd and he'd make the meringue. That was fun but took a lot of work.
Pies are more diverse in how they can be pudding food or savory food and I am the kind of person who actually loves a soggy pie crust. But I am much more inclined to make my own cake than make my own pie
a new challanger approaches: NEITHER american cake or pie, German sheet cake is vastly superior and that's the hill i will die on
lemon merangue pie is Good Apple pie with enough cinnamon is G o o d Chicken pot pie can be very nice Cake..... cheesecake is nice in small portions. I don't like buttercream frosting or whatever kind you get on cupcakes. Weird texture, i don't want to bite into a whole mouthful of it. If it's a thin layer then that's ok. Cakes with custard in them are nice
Pumpkin pie and cheesecake are my favourite desserts, so I guess it's hard for me to decide. I'd say pies generally because cakes are generally just all sweetness and I really like pie crust but it really depends.
I've thought about it and I think cheesecake is basically a pie. It's got a crust and a filling and looks like a pie way more than it does a cake
Cheesecake feels a bit separate from pies or cake to me... And is definitely my favorite of the three. Depending on the pie I generally like some pies a bit better than cake, tho I am still very much a cake fan if it's like, really high quality fresh made stuff. My sister makes some incredible bundt cakes. How do people feel about Apple pie? There's something about the tartness and texture of baked apples that just doesn't quite mesh with me
Apple pie is too overbearingly tart and sweet for me. I'm okay with it, because pie is pie, but definitely a lower tier pie for me.
I like apple pie filling better than the pie itself weirdly enough. Just some soft warm apples with cinnamon and a scoop of nilla icecream
