  1. question for Music People- I understand vinyl never truly went out of style, but what's with vaporwave and future funk musicians producing limited-edition cassette tapes of their music?

I wonder the same thing. I’m into a few indie Bandcamp bands that do that and it’s like...why?

  3. and it's like. if the music is good and people like it that much, why a limited-edition run?

It's a mixture of genuine and ironic nostalgia and aesthetics, with the levels varying from person to person. Limited edition because the infrastructure for producing tapes at scale doesn't really exist anymore. Even vinyl takes quite a bit of effort to produce. Physical music media is dying from a commercial standpoint.
Are they only producing physical tapes or is their music available digitally?

  5. No, they make digital albums too. Usually included with, or cheaper separate from, the cassettes.

I can't speak for TN, but in the cases I'm thinking of it's available digitally as well, which is how I know it exists in the first place--and the only physical releases are on cassette.

I understand why they have to tell you you could rupture a tendon when you take Levaquin.

But I kinda wish they hadn't told me because I have chronic pain issues and every time I feel a twinge in my calf or ankle I wonder "is this it? should I stop and call the doc" and then remind myself that actual tendinopathy would hurt like fuck, not be a twinge, and I really need this antibiotic to get rid of whatever resistant hellbug I picked up, probably at work. I've had two doses and I still feel bad but I feel so much better than I did before.

Yesterday while cleaning I looked at my absolute disgrace of a sink (limescale, everywhere), and was like, if toilet cleaner clears limescale off the toilet bowl, does it also clean it off the sink?
It does, in fact, not care where the limescale is. My bathroom just smelled like toilet cleaner for a bit, but the drain stopper hasn't been this shiny in years.

Yeah, the key ingredient for getting rid of lime scale is acid (since it's pretty much just calcium carbonate), and toilet bowl cleaner tends to have pretty concentrated hydrochloric acid in it.

  10. Update regarding the cassettes- I actually have a cassette player, because I am that much of a loser. I found one that isn't sold out. I think if I actually like every song on the set, I'm gonna get it.

    Update- bought it!

You're not a loser. A lot of the music I have on cassette hasn't been put on CD and isn't available digitally yet. :)

We lost SO many cassettes to hot cars or even the tape player eating them up when I was a kid...I think I remember going to the store with my mom as a smol and when we got back to the car the heat had totally ruined a tape we had in there. :(

Funnily enough, I’m pretty sure my parents actually DO own a Queen compilation...

  15. I should hit the thrift stores and see what kind of cassette selections they have. Also- they seriously can melt in the player in the car if it’s too hot? Geez Louise.

Oh yeah, tapes are actually kind of fragile. I think I lost one or two that way.

i have a lingering sense that magnets will eat like, cds and phones even tho i'm pretty sure that isnt true. I just grew up with cassettes because my dad had a 1992 car that he paid extra to have a tape deck put in, and then converted cds he wanted to play onto tape. I had a cassette player when i was little and didnt get a cd player until like age 12

I never had a Walkman I don’t think, but I had portable CD players that I took EVERYWHERE with me right up until I got my first iPod. I went through a ton of them because they were super cheapo and fell apart fast, haha.
