ok i actually need to yell about that for a minute, lol Spoiler: a single pink rose spoilers, but like, dumb and not plot related at all ok so those loose phone numbers do not appear to be filed alphabetically. the ones we see with identifiers go S --> RH --> Y (or possibly V? either way). even if she files things right-to-left or bottom-to-top that doesn't work. so are they in there... chronologically? because that would mean she's gotten another phone number since Mystery Girl! PEARL YOU OPERATOR.
And I got spoiled by an image on tumblr. Whoops. I will say that I'm not really disappointed because I was spoiled but intrigued. So at least I got that going for me.
I think I may have been in these conversations, or at least overheard them and decided that they were legit, but I'm not going to lie. I was surprised anyway. But then again I sort of regarded the whole theory as so matter-of-fact that no wonder I just.. forgot about it.
Spoiler: I'm inclined to think that the ability to COMMAND Pearl not to do something is more a Pearl-related thing--it seems likely to me that at the very least the Pearls of the Diamonds can't disobey direct orders from their Diamonds, no matter what. also, I think that Rose's upset with Bismuth could also be about like....Bismuth wants to shatter the Homeworld elites. technically, one of those is Rose. that's gotta be uncomfortable. bc I mean, even responding to that, bubbling FOREVER seems kind of....extreme. and she never even told Pearl, it seems.
Spoiler But like, I haven't seen the episode yet, but they were complaining about how Rose being presented as perfect means that PD is by proxy, but like, Rose is super not presented as perfect? 'Rose Quartz' is fucked up. That's been like, a super central thing in the show.

Spoiler In other news episode was nice. Has made my ship even more fucked up in just the right way. Mmmmmmmm. Also I like how Pearl just has an assortment of phone numbers now. I will pretend that she's doing the thing where you go out and meet people and are super excited and such for like...Only a day or like a month. Then we move on to the next because actual lasting intimacy is fucking horrifying let's just fuck the world instead and leave a line of confused people behind us.

Spoiler I watched it. Yeah, Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz was messed up. I mean, even aside from the human zoo... she felt she had to disappear to protect Earth, but it was also a way to run away from what she saw as her dark side. Except it didn't work that way. It followed her, and everyone got twisted by the retaliation. She left that geas on Pearl, which fucked a lot of stuff up, she played at war like it was a game no matter how noble her ideals, she sealed Bismuth away without even telling anyone because it would be too inconvenient to explain. Rose Quartz- Pink Diamond is a character who runs and runs and runs away from her flaws instead of confronting them, and when that all got to be too much, she ran away for the last time to become Steven, while keeping everything he needed to know buried so deep he'd never have found it if Pearl wasn't so repressed. I don't think you can describe her as a villain, but I don't think you can really describe her as a hero either. She was a person who wanted to be a hero, who playacted the part. Damn.
