So, yeah, I caught up on Season 3 recently, and... wow, is this an awesome show. I think things resolved a little unceremoniously in episode 3-6, but it's pretty amazing to have a sci-fi series that gives at least one damn. Is there going to be a skip between Delta-V (3-7) and 3-8? I mean, I suppose I could just wait until... well, later today, actually, but... I've never read the books and probably won't until the TV series does end, but yeah, the moment I saw the ring, I was immediately like 'yep, that's a gate.' RIP racer dude, aliens fucked up their inertial dampeners again.
hey, so as far as i know there's no time skip between 3-7 & 3-8. or, if there is, it'll be a fairly minor one. the jump between 3-6 & 3-7 corresponded to the end of one book (caliban's war) & the beginning of the next (abbadon's gate). i think they chose to do the timeskip to eliminate the sort of... in-betweeny, not super interesting parts. i can provide a quick summary of what happened (in the books) in that time frame, if you'd be interested! e. OH ALSO i hope this series goes on long enough that we get to hear this quote: spoken by the actors. miller's bit is becoming my ringtone if so
I mean an IRL season break between 3-7 and 3-8, which seems to be the case, as it 'should' have been on yesterday. And yes, I would like that summary.
Well. That. That went downhill fast. You'd think that people would realize, as Naomi suggested, that it's quite feasible to fake videos and not react quite so hot off the starting block. Maybe try to figure out what actually happened before shooting. Perhaps it was partly because not only did the Rocinante not respond, but it also starting running... makes things look pretty suspicious - and time sensitive.
okay, quick summary of things that happened between delta-v & it reaches out (omitting some stuff that i think might be spoilers, to be covered later in the show): Spoiler: i put my capitals & punctuation hat on for this & everything! First off, Prax and Mei went back to Ganymede. Not much else about them is gone over in the books, but I choose to believe they're happy and growing flowers. Bobby went back to Mars, stopped working for Avasarala but still keeps in contact with her and the crew of the Roci. The biggest things happened with the Roci: Mars is attempting to sue Holden and the lot to regain possession of the Roci. On one station, the Roci was locked down due to this, and the reporter contacted Holden to say essentially "You take me to the Ring, I'll pay for your legal fees and basically make sure Mars can't take the ship." Lastly, the Nauvoo was refitted into the Behemoth, a massive gunship. What's going on with Melba is spoilers. What I will say is she did some shady shit in that time interval. hope that helps! i'm watching the ep now so i'll be back in a bit with some yollering
Spoiler: it reaches out right - if, right after the broadcast went out, holden was able to send a competing broadcast right away going “hey that wasn’t me that was faked,” there’d be a lot more leeway for people to try and discover if it really was faked before shooting at the roci (especially if the roci acted non-threatening, moved away from the ring, etc.) but since the roci’s comms were locked down... v suspicious, and the behemoth had incredibly limited time to disavow holden/show that holden didn’t speak for them or for the OPA
i think it also helped (well, not really helped but you get my meaning) that holden has a history of wideband broadcasting messages, and the message did originate with the roci on to this week's ep: it broke me, but probably not for what you think Spoiler the "sometimes something happens & you forget the bad times, only remember the good" thing hit me in a super personal spot, & i might have cried a bit. that sounds dumb, but. it hurt but feels good also drummer's speech. Saw Episode 3-10, and it had some... interesting numbers. Spoiler I wonder, is the inside of the ring having some kind of interesting effect on inertia in general? Because Holden just made two extreme accelerations - first about 200m/s2 (~20G) moving towards the center, and then *stopping* from around 5 kilometers per second in maybe two seconds. It could just be number mix-ups, but the series having been pretty good so far, I'm inclined to believe it's something more. Also, have those strands of protomolecule around the closest planet in the last bit of the opening always been there...?
so i've recently been doing a rewatch with some friends (hi friends! join the yollering) & the thing you brought up with the protomolecule in the opening is true! first season it's just a hint of a blue glow, second there's more blue and some tendrils, then third there are a lot of tendrils! i didn't pick that up until you pointed it out, good catch! this weeks ep is Good i love drummer i'm still :o at last week's ep though, what a damn good episode
SEASON FINALE AAAAAAAAA i'm still in the process of watching both eps but i shall return to scream my face off about my emotions
