First thought: That's bizarre, what's wrong with everything. Second thought: Oh please oh please do Chicago. Well hmm.
this is really bizarre. like, in canada, there are people working on the roads a lot in the summer and summer is considered to be, "working on the roads" time. like, i don't think anyone lets potholes go unfixed like that here.
The only times I can recall there being Seriously Bad Potholes is "it was raining all autumn, winter happened, and then it rained most of spring", and even then, there weren't. like. car-eating potholes? And I lived in Cape Breton, which is...kind of the part of Nova Scotia that Nova Scotia forgot. The worst it got was "slow down going over that or you'll wreck your suspension". But agreed. Making sure the main roads are usable is a pretty big priority up here. And I think we do a lot more structural maintenance, too (but I don't have any significant evidence towards that, beyond "there's only 12 or 13 entries for Canada in the 'structural failures and collapses' Wikipedia page, and a lot of the most recent ones are about the collapse of a band stage" and "I legit cannot recall ever hearing about a bridge collapse in Canada".) Meanwhile, I'm currently annoyed that my tailbone still hurts. Like "bending over or walking up a hill or moving quickly are painful" sort of hurts. And I'm annoyed that it feels stupid to complain about this, because I'm...literally complaining that my butt hurts. Go me.
it really depends on where you live in the u.s i think. We get ours repaired if they're bad, or they just wait until they replace the road next, as that happens every, 5-10 years? At least, i think.
when people @here or @everyone on discord over utterly, completely frivolous stuff like, i'm sorry but i thought you had a special message for me or an important message for everyone but instead... nope that was a pointless @
My twitter account has been locked and I’m trying to get it back but I’m not getting the text they’re trying to send me. My phone has been having trouble getting texts for a couple of months now.
My coworker sometimes reply-alls to emails sent to the whole workplace with something frivolous like ";) i'll for sure be there" and its like.... you idiot
Road repair? Did you mean hellaciously expensive speed trap where they occasionally import a couple construction workers for flavor?
my piece of shit bookcase collapsed for the fourth time :| it's one of these bad boys: and surely you would think, what a sturdy looking bookcase! what an adult item of furniture to have in one's apartment! but no, this thing is actually held together with 1/2 inch long stubs of metal and the prayers of the desperate. the tower of reinforced cardboard boxes that i made in college worked better. now we have to figure out how to get rid of the bookcase. right now it's just sitting in the living room, with piles of books all around it, mocking me. ETA: it continues to mock me by making me mess up trying to attach an image
Customer said she didn’t want me to help her because I don’t sound like I know what I’m talking about. I literally don’t recognize this lady or know what I did to cause that.
I know I shouldn't complain about the work of scanlation teams who translate and upload manga for free, but dammit these guys really need to get an editor who knows what punctuation is for
I have a single sample left to process and no preps left which means I have to beg/borrow from someone else or the company or ?????
I feel that way about free online games a lot. I have on multiple occasions pondered whether it would be viable to get on, like, Kongregate forums or something and make a thread offering to proofread your game's dialogue for $10/hour.
I swear to god, I'm gonna learn japanese just so I can do a better job than these guys. There's so many good mangas that get butchered, too - my favorite part of the yugioh season 0 manga is nearly fuckin unreadable in the only scanlation i can find and I'm eternally bitter about it. @LadyNighteyes You should totally try that proofreading thing, I bet you'd get some takers!
scanlation has now changed to a group that apparently finds it necessary to write each person's dialogue in a different font, maybe to make up for the fact that their translator has no idea how to actually fucking write dialogue.
