@Morgan Jae re:BNHA daemons, I've always liked Izuku as a big rabbit. Adorable and shy but will absolutely fuck you up if necessary, has Good Kicks, looks like All Might. Bakugou as a honey badger is Extremely good.
Spoiler: brotherhood spoilers An alpaca or a llama, maybe? Those are both (I think) also pack animals. And alpacas look surprisingly harmless, but will absolutely stomp a predator to death. Huh! I figured unsettling due to trauma could absolutely be a thing, since while it doesn't make you not yourself any more, it might shake some core certainties that you have about yourself. But then, I also figured that settling happened once you'd (at least subconsciously) come to terms with who you are as a person and what being 'you' means. So Alex unsettling briefly, because of his trauma, made sense to me since part of his trauma was that he now needed to re-examine some things he'd built his identity on.
Spoiler: brotherhood spoilers Llama or alpaca would be perfect - the only thing making me pause is that like Maine Coons, I'm not sure if they exist in FMA universe, or if they do I don't see how they could have made their way from FMA!South America to ancient Xerxes. Alpacas truly are the best, though, I can definitely see Hoenheim settling as one if he ever met one as a child. That interpretation makes sense! There's a lot of interesting variations on daemon AUs, especially if you ignore the limitations of the Dust stuff from HDM.
In the course of a chat with @Pumpkageist I figured out some FFXV daemons. Here's some of the ones that rely less on personal headcanons. Spoiler: just in case Prompto: Domesticated rat. Ardyn: City pigeon (i.e. domesticated rock dove). Iris: Standard poodle (black).
i had some thoughts about how a Celeste daemons AU would go, and: Celeste Mountain is famous because if you go there, you wind up with part of yourself personified into an animal shape. It doesn't need like...food or anything, it just needs to be close to you, and it talks and stuff. And it stays, even after you leave the Mountain, though it does have the ability to fuse in. I don't know if the Bird would be Granny's daemon or the Mountain's, but either way that is not a mundane bird. Badeline would be Madeline's daemon in this, and I'm thinking goshawk, because focused, determined animal that is both relatively confident in its home range (to the point of being willing to injure itself trying to accomplish its goals) and Anxious everywhere. Also because pre-fusing Badeline would try to scare Madeline off with the talons and stuff. i have not done enough research or theo character studies to have any clue what Theo's daemon would be
Edward has a housecat Bella has... a horse? idk Charlie Swan actually does have a swan and has long since resigned himself to the constant ribbing from his friends like 60% of the Quileutes have canine daemons, especially the men, and it’s kind of weird I’m divided on whether newborn vamps’ daemons resettle when they’re turned. maybe most of the time but not always, depending on the circumstances? Bella’s doesn’t, in that case edit: they may or may not resettle but they do get infinite range, like a witch also Carlisle has a capybara.
I was once part of an HDM-universe roleplay group where someone played Bella with a fainting goat as a daemon. it was pretty great.
Spoiler: no one but me cares about this!! no one!!!!! actually though I don’t think Bella has a herd animal for a daemon. whatever animal she has, its survival strategy is not social. something individualistic. not sure if it should be a desert animal or not. maybe... hedgehog?? Renee on the other hand definitely has a horse. and Charlie’s swan is named Lucinda. and Carlisle has a capybara maybe? or a bat! because he inspired a lot of vampire legends!! i’m stuck on the rest of the Cullens. Emmet could have a bear, but on the other hand, what if Rosalie had a bear? and I really have no clue abt alice and jasper
I think she was the only Twilight character there, unfortunately. (it was multifandom.) Trying to remember if there were any other good ones, but it was years ago.
