A vet tumblr makes several posts about neutering/castration, because this tumblr regularly answers asks and some people are curious. Iirc, it started off with "what's your favorite surgery to do?" and an answer of "castrations because they're easy".

I was parsing "vets" as "veterans" for some reason and that rendered it even more baffling.

 

I tried googling what the reference and I did find it but not before discovering that the Beatrice Magic defeated the Midwest Iowa Crushers.

What the refrance is Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, a.k.a. When the Seagulls Cry. Since the word for seagull, "umineko," literally means "sea cat," "seacats" and "sea kittens" are popular fan nicknames. The central conflict of the story is that after a family of rich assholes gets murdered in their isolated island mansion, the main character begins a game with a witch named Beatrice where she claims she killed everyone with magic and he has to try to explain it away as the work of humans. So naturally, when people are reading it for the first time and liveblogging it, people who've already read it and know the solution enthusiastically popcorn.gif. Which often involves repeatedly insisting that OBVIOUSLY Beatrice did everything with magic, duh.

Other things that are sea kitten culture include being hilariously wrong the first time through, the sound effect ahaha.wav, and feeling bad about solving mysteries because one of the characters solved it first and she was an asshole.

 

It sounds far more engaging than PETA, and way less likely to make me long to bread catfish while smirking.

 

Yeah, mocking PETA is also a factor in the nickname. :::PPP
