hahahaha good question you'd think, after sixteen seasons of rvb, someone would get that the main characters of it are all adults and all know how to curse (though doc does try to avoid it) and all don't need anyone parenting them but apparently not, lol
i think they watch the show. and the "carolina doesn't curse and that's why she's a good mom" thing was on a photo post with two screenshots of the show.
it's not just that they're all adults and know how to curse, either -- they curse frequently! maybe not quite on karkat's level, but like, i wouldn't recommend RVB to someone who doesn't like cursing!
yeah, that too! they curse a lot and nothing has got them to stop cursing and nothing would, i think - especially not a freelancer who thinks she can tell them all what to do. like, if carolina told them that cursing is bad and they should stop it, they'd be more likely to tell her to go to hell than to obey her.
if one more klance fan puts their fucking random bullshit in the davekat tag talking about how klance and davekat are exactly the same i will scream
the tag is just. this. all the time. it should not be a wildly unreasonable request to go "hey, i don't want to see your weird voltron ship wars in a homestuck tag" And Fucking Yet
That’s not even a good description of davekat, they were never enemies! And neither were klance, come to think of it. Why does op even mention that trope? Or does “allies who bicker” count as enemies now?
generally enemies to friends to lovers is the trope davekat gets summarized under, because they started out hating each other. and “acquaintances who don’t like each other to friends to lovers” is a bit of a mouthful.
I remember a post a while back chiding Reylo shippers for describing the ship as enemies-to-lovers, because enemies-to-lovers doesn't involve kidnapping or murder attempts, that's just abuse. So, yes, in some circles enemies-to-lovers is just allies who bicker.
Hang on what exactly are the throughlines and similaritiee between Dave and karkat and lance and Keith as characters j/k I know that this poster literally only cares about the shipping angle and would insert any other two male characters who held gazes for more than 5 seconds if they thought it would get more notes "We're you but" my ass.
Actually, I think the specific example they gave for a true and proper enemies-to-lovers ship was a pair of competing athletes. So they don't have to be allies who bicker, but bickering was definitely a prerequisite.
that’s more like, rivals-to-lovers tho. like people will have different definitions but I feel like that’s a pretty weak one for “enemies”. I like any pairing where people have to come to understand a viewpoint very different from theirs, and I find “allies who bicker” and “outright enemies who try to kill each other” equally fun, but...they are ultimately different things. maybe the definitions will pull apart into two tags or two words. honestly if you’re not going to ship heroes with their villains than what even is the point of having either.joke
If Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth would be too antagonistic for your definition of "enemies to lovers," you have a bad definition.
I'm trying to picture someone saying this and I can feel my skin crawling off my body, getting in my car, and driving to the nearest beach for a vacation. But wait till ya'll hear about a ship described as "enemies to lovers" in my fandom when an official guidebook describes them as "ex best friends" and literally "partners who trust each other with their lives" such enemies?
