Sometimes I imagine that ghosts exist, but aren't affected by gravity at all, so when the earth hurtles through the universe at 220 kilometers per second we're leaving a phantasmal trail of baffled space ghosts.

 

what happened to that "hey sperglords talk to me" thread? I had no idea what the person who made it was trying to do or if they meant to be that insulting or what, but now i can't read it at all to try to parse wtf they wanted.

So thats cool. I havent watched all the way through yet but so far its just someone driving on a dirt road at night while cool jams play.

 

is it just me, or has azlyrics.com completely vanished from the first page of google results over the last several months? it used to be the first or second result for "[song name] lyrics" pretty much a hundred percent of the time but now it's nowhere to be seen. what's up with that?

 

It's the second result for me when I search just the word "lyrics" in a private window. Might depend on the songs/artists you're searching?

 

Huh, I just tried that and got the same result. Maybe it’s because of all the neil cicierega, jonathan coulton, and tmbg lyrics I looked up a while ago.

 

This had me confused for a while.

I have goddamn finally seen Mamma Mia 2 and I would just like to say one thing. okay, two. maybe five. (should I put this somewhere in Fan Town instead?)

1. we saw in the first movie what the guys looked like when they were young and getting three hot surfer dudes instead is a fucking travesty. Hugh Skinner is cute but goddamn it where is Headbanger Harry, huh

2. I fell in love with young Rosie on spot
2b. do they expect me to believe someone keeps the exact same haircut for 50 years
2c. I can't believe either Rosie or Tanya is supposed to be straight. or Donna for that matter. they're like the best femme and butch and Donna nicely in the middle. it's a crime both of them are all over every guy they see and no girls. make these girls bi dammit.
2d. the casting is real good for the girls, they look and sound perfect matches to their counterparts
2e. literally none of the Dynamos are straight, fight me

3. fuck these guys for that matter, I want a 100k fanfic about Donna on the island. pregnant and deciding she goddamn got this, knowing basically nobody, writing to the Dynamos on a regular basis, working the bar and slowly slowly fixing the old farm. she's some white girl that just showed up and decided to stay there but the locals share one look and go 'nope she's ours now, you white boys can't have her', Sofia becomes the mother Ruby failed to be, Lazaros is a loving big brother that is also a fuckwad as the big brothers are, she builds up the farm and her own life, has a soft romance with a local girl, realises she doesn't need romance to have a good life. Rosie and Tanya bang and pretend they don't, Bill visits Sofia once a year and distresses various girls and boys with his ~scandinavian beauty~ , Rosie gets a girlfriend who can be Tanya or Donna or anyone basically. various shenanigans. the goat wrecks shit. ghosts might be involved.
3b. I went to look at Mamma Mia fanfics and a good bunch of them are crossovers with Kingsman bc Colin Firth plays a guy named Harry in both and tbh I am satisfied. also Tanya/Rosie is the highest ship. good.

4. nobody cares about the quality of this film tbh we are all here just to have fun.

RESIDENT TMBG SPERG HERE to tell you that if you ever want to find TMBG lyrics I highly suggest searching This Might Be A Wiki! They have lyrics (and other info) for like...I think quite possibly literally everything they've written. Even the obscure stuff. (except the stuff the band doesn't want people discussing publicly but shh. you must be thinking of some other band)

My understanding is that JoCopedia has lyrics for all of Jonathan Coulton's stuff too! It's not as obsessively meticulous as TMBW, I don't think, but it's still a good lyric resource. ^^

 

Thank you! I think my original googling eventually ended up bringing me to the tmbg wiki, and then the uh. Sheer volume of Content became kind of overwhelming. My need to analyze every song I like until I completely understand what the artist meant by it kind of backfires with artists like tmbg or lemon demon who do really twisty lyrics.

 

Tbh the sheer volume of Content TMBG actually produces is pretty overwhelming on its own. :P

 

can someone tell me why people seem to get annoyed at works (esp books ime) for being 'dated'? I'm kind of clueless as to why it's a problem; it comes up sometimes in reviews I read but I've yet to see an actual explanation on why a work being a product of the time period it was created in is necessarily a bad thing

 

Some people find older slang jarring or attitudes that were acceptable at the time period that are no longer acceptable uncomfortable or upsetting. Also, themes and tropes that were an innovation at the time may feel tired and overused to a current reader.
