POST-CON DEPRESSION IS THE WORST. ;-; Like, that’s one of the only things I don’t love about cons.

Here’s hoping the crash after SacAnime next weekend isn’t too bad...

 

A friend of mine linked me at DoesTheDogDie yesterday and I rapidly discovered that most of their categories except movies are incredibly sparse. I've spent the last while adding the rest of the Ace Attorney series and undoing the handiwork of my new nemesis, a guy who was the only voter on a bunch of old JRPGS and was doing stuff like tagging "LGBT person dies" for Final Fantasy IX because Quina can be KO'd in battle.

I also helpfully informed the staff that they misspelled "claustrophobic" across the entire site.

 

Hmm. what are the guidelines for games with multiple story paths and/or customizable PC’s?

 

There are no guidelines, which is another thing I asked the staff about. Personally, I was putting "yes" for, say, child death in Persona 4's bad endings, but leaving comments explaining that they're avoidable.

...Wow, this site is kinda useless for TV shows, isn't it? Like, I've been looking at the SU page and it says certain things are present that are present...in like one or two episodes each. It'd be nice if you could add some context, or say like "it happens in this specific episode" or whatever. (EDIT: If there's a way I can do that, please let me know?)

Also it says there are spiders and I have zero recollection of ever seeing a spider in SU--and I've seen every episode multiple times and am quite seriously arachnophobic (with a few exceptions re: the arachnophobia), so I would remember that. So it's not exactly accurate either?

(Also like. Yes, an LGBT person dies in SU. Never mind the fact that that was one character out of many LGBT characters, and that it occurred before the first fucking episode of the show. Again, context.)

 

hahahahaha you think it's bad for TV shows, try looking at the game and book sections. Unless it's something like Harry Potter, here's often only one or two votes. It's... very obvious that it was originally only looking at movies (and only at dog death; I looked up And Then There Were None on a whim because I've been reading Agatha Christie, and nothing was voted on except no dead dog, in a story with no animals in it, which had a racial slur in its original title).

There often is context in the comments! They show if you click on a trigger name on the work page.

I think that second one is a pretty reasonable summary of the context.

Maybe people were voting spiders because of some of the spidery-legged gembots? I could definitely see the way the Diamond palanquins move setting some people off.

 

Good to know that there's context in the comments, because otherwise that would give a lot of media a really bad name.

 

It is also how I could tell that the reason practically every RPG I looked up had "dog dies"/"cat dies"/"horse dies"/"animal dies" checked is because somebody was tagging animal death for random encounter monsters. And burning to death because there's fire magic. And LGBT death/child death/parent death for nonlethal party KOs. And "eating disorder" for any character who has a running joke about them eating a lot. There was even one where they tagged "electroshock therapy" because somebody has lighting magic. -_-

 

Fun fact, whenever i want to tell my mom something funny seebs or jesse posted, i refer to them as the couple with the sortable cats

because i first told her about a post where seebs like,noticed that her 3 cats would be in order no matter what the arrangement (i think it was like, order of size, order of age, or order of lightest to darkest?)

so that, along with running a forum and being the spouse of an author, is how seebs is known to my mom

and northfield is "that place where the people with the cats live"

in fairness i did encounter someone who Really cant handle dogs getting hurt, including like, if its a 3d game and you have to kill dog shaped enemies and they whine when you hit them. that would be helpful if it specified,this is a game where you may be asked to hurt dogs, but its not like An Event in the story that you have to encounter for the plot

Does anyone keep pigeons/know much about them? For reasons of Honour I need something that they like to eat that isn't as bad for them as I presume bread is.

 

I’m gonna say no, it looks too tight for that, it should have more give in the sides to allow for freer movement. And at least one more set of pockets.

What I mean: "I currently have all the natural grace and coordination of a baby giraffe who wandered into an ice rink after a 3-day Jack Daniels bender, please for the love of God stay away because otherwise I might keel over on you"

 

They're seed-eaters. Generic "songbird" birdseed is fine for wild birds if your Honor does not include long-term care (tho the linked palomacy site's explanation of pigeon seed is better for nutritional balance), or if you don't want to shell out for that you can get some shelled peas (if frozen, then wash and thaw) or lentils or small beans.

(Ignore the greens/plants section of the palomacy site. They're great but pigeons Do Not have an appropriate gut setup to digest a lot of leaf or fruit matter.)
