Athol Magarac I prefer reading posts without a lot of topics.

Sorry I can't help you. You might like "Circle of Magic" by Tamora Pierce and "The Girl with Silver Eyes." You might also like "So You Want to be a Wizard" by Diane Duane.

There's Podkayne of Mars, which is by Heinlein. But the girl was named Podkayne, not a cat. Seems v. similar right down to the spelling.

i read a book ages ago and it was about a prison world (many different sections, all either owned/run by nasty gangs or a no-man's land of icy cold) and it was contained in a small item of some kind, a key or necklace or other handheld bauble, rather like that one joke in the first Men In Black movie. the Outside world (the 'larger' one outside of the prison) was a futuristic sort of faux lord-vassal system with commoners in shacks and large mansions with 'beautiful' people and one of them was a queen, but the twist was that once all of the electricity turned off (or magic or something) it turns out that the beauty and decor were all holograms, and the mansion was old and moldy and crumbling. I don't precisely recall what happened at the end. The protagonist was male, i think, and the book had an odd name. i think the prison was called something like Labyrinth? It was weird as shit and i want to find it again.

Ok so I know this exists, I just can't for the life of me remember the name or how to search for it.

It's a Warhammer 40k RP, probably Dark Heresy. Or rather, the RP made into a recollection of "this is what we dipshits did". It starts with the DM making the players burn through a few characters to set the mood. I vividly remember one part where a they have to find out who the fuck handed a smuggler a specific spaceship, they find the ship, and it still has their own vandalism on it. Because it was them who gave the smuggler said ship.
    It had its own webpage.

oooh hey can anyone help me find a book series i read as a kid?

i can't remember much other than the following: the main character was a girl with red hair, and she discovered she had magic faerie powers in her blood or something. there was a journey and a boring love triangle

the front cover of the first book was a bunch of floating grassy mountains?? that's all i got and i've been trying to find it for years

You described the cover and I could instantly picture the book cover in my head, font choice included, so I can almost guarantee that I've also read this book, but I can't get my brain to spit out the name. I'll think about it some more.

so my bf used to talk about this weird ad that he remembered playing on tv when he was a kid. he said it was a remix of john denver's 'country roads', but about the knicks. surely, we thought, that can't be real--he must be misremembering. why would anyone think it was a good idea to take one of the most geographically specific songs of all time and make it about new york? especially when there are already so many songs about new york?

    then we found this
