when someone sees your fic, explicitly marked as polyamory reads this fic and tells you they like it “even though they’re not a fan of poly” that’s some fucking “this was a pretty good fic even though it’s gay :)” galaxy brain shit.
That's like that person who said they liked one of my poems but would like it better as prose. like ok? I tagged it. Go away. I do not want your faint bullshit praise.
Maybe the person complimenting the poly fic was thinking of it like “this isn’t even my kink but daaamn” and didn’t realize the unfortunate implications of applying that to an identity? (I’m gonna hazard a guess that the fic was not presenting it as a spicy naughty twist for monogamy.) Still rude. I can’t think of any way in which the poetry comment is anything but flat out rude.
Some rude comments on the fic i was reading one basically complaining about the worldbuilding and how the commenter couldnt accept that this society of talking magic monkeys, that was created solely for this story, could use gender neutral pronouns for everyone because something about, ~lol they have to have figured out how reproduction works so that means they would address everyone based on their junk like humans~ just bail out of the fic you dumbass And another trans character au got some shitty comments about like,"youre only writing this up to this point for wish fullfilment, this story isnt about this character being trans theyre just having a crisis of identity" And then someone else who was like "why dont you update" which the author called them out for being rude
Hrgh both of those are gross Like whatever the reason author has for making that like??? It's fine, it's fiction? Fiction is a great avenue for exploring shit we don't have right now???
Yknow, that's a good point! Other languages just have gender neutral pronouns (like the one from my country)
Ah yes, that card game where being able to hold a whole bunch of cards is an unbeatable advantage? You know the one? Seriously how the fuck does being turned into a five inch tall half octopus give you an advantage in card games.
You want the real out of context quote? Gladio had to admit that the best part of the day was when they all decided to play cards. He mistakenly thought the two small card players would be at a disadvantage. However, their multitudinous legs with suckers allowed them to hold way more cards than he thought possible. Ignis and he didn’t stand a chance they lost every round. But it was worth it to see their companions happy, seemingly having forgotten about their change in appearance. Hey I can hold a whole deck at once does that make me Queen Poker? (But yeah final fantasy fandom likes to have Fun With Status Effects. If you can be turned into a frog while not an octopus or a cat?)
....shit i thought this was fanfiction gripes i am very sorry ;;;;;; serves me right for not reading closely
Sometimes I get weirdly nostalgic for the earlier parts of a fandom, before all the canon kicks in. Like, early Fullmetal Alchemist stuff before there is a primary conflict in the manga and there isn't a consistent translation of all terms yet. Or Homestuck pre act 5. I mean people ca write canon divergent AUs or whatever all they want but it will never have quite the same flavour as something written before that stuff existed. (Track down some early 2010 Homestuck fic some time, it's wild)
Well damn, now I have even more incentive to try to get my writing spoons back so I can write more Radiant Historia fic just to prove them wrong. #I special-interest a game where the entire plot is ultimately caused by one profoundly dysfunctional relationship in a profoundly dysfunctional family and no one can stop me
i literally never stan healthy family dynamics in media, lol never have healthy family dynamics in media are generally really boring to me
I might stan people discovering How To Healthy Family They’ve Never Had. On occasion I might even stan Heartwarmingly Sweet Good Family Faces Down Tragedy While Being So Amazing To Each Other, Look At These Good Dorks. But you can pry unhealthy family dynamics in fiction from my cold dead hands. I want them all, thank you very much.
