I had a dream where Jade had to sacrifice her memories and replace them with ones from a different timeline to get past a puzzle in sburb, and now I really want to do something with the idea. EDIT: Actually this sounds like more of a Mind thing. Terezi does it and now all her memories are just slightly off and she’s trying to hide it but Aradia sees right through her. Or Latula! She could be the one making the grand sacrifice instead of Mituna! She gives up her memories and wakes up as Redglare, who has the skills to work out what’s going on with Kurloz before it’s too late but is completely lost in the context of sburb, and everyone has names she only recognises in the context of extremely heretical documents I am going to have to do something with this idea.
It's occurred to me. Trolls refer to their houses as "hives", but they do in all circumstances even when it doesn't work when translated directly; humans don't say "I'm going house". Trolls don't have a separate word for "home", which is an entirely different concept from just a house to a human, and I'm wondering if it's because their hives on Alternia are treated as a temporary thing till they join the fleet. Like their dwelling places aren't really their own...

Ooh, I'd love to join in but I can't decide on what the heck I'd want to prompt that would work. My fave poly ship is "EVERYONE/EVERYONE". Heh. Well, while I decide I'll throw in my vote for the existence of an eventual Hiveswap swap. Probably wouldn't work till Part 2 is out though.
uh, I think we already closed the feedback form for that? it's a homestuck swap, first and foremost, and honestly? we're probably not gonna expand into hiveswap until there's enough demand, and a hiveswap polyswap was REALLY far down the list in terms of demand. right now it's a big fat "maybe someday in the future"
I didn't realise there was a feedback form, I just meant it as a figure of speech. And I said I don't think it could even work until at the very least until after Part 2 comes out.
Okay but they were not talking about a Hiveswap swap to begin with. If you want one, cool. Start planning how you're gonna organize it. Don't tell someone who is already putting in a lot of effort on one thing that what you really want is a different thing entirely. That's rude as heck.
Sorry, but that's not how I meant it. I meant "this would be cool at some future point, wonder if it can be pulled off", not "I want this more than what you're doing now".
Right, 1) say that then, 2) say it in the Hiveswap thread in it's own post, not the Homestuck thread in response to someone making a post about their Homestuck project. What you said was along the same lines of "I like this fic you're writing but I want to read something with my OTP in it". Like. Great, go find that then, or make it yourself if you can't. Don't respond to someone else's project saying how much you'd like a different one. Even if it wasn't your intent, it not only puts down all the hard work they've put into doing their thing, it also backhandedly suggests you want them to do the work for you on this other thing. At best it's dismissive, and a conversation railroad to jump in and start talking about some other only tangentially related project that no one mentioned in the first place.
