The Good: I got my art school entrance exam results The Bad: 4/10 on clay task, arguably the most important one, as it's Ceramics I'm applying for. also because I really liked it myself and was quite proud of it. The Good: 8/10 on technical composition, I am so happy The ???: solid average 5 and 6 on interview+porfolio and third task, respectively The Good: I still passed! The Bad: 20 applicants, 6 will be accepted The Bad: I saw others' works and frankly don't think I have a chance The Good: I can still go to trade school if I fail which is probably the wiser option anyway The Bad: I still have no idea what I am doing with my life
Good news: watching FMA at work because we're already done with most of our shit Bad news: The Hughes Episode
Good News: Giving my two week notice for this job that has basically massacred my mental health. Bad News: Money.
Good News: I have survived my first week of work. and also I saw my last post at the top of the page and laughed because I had no idea I would end up here but I did and it's all the better for it, I'm so glad I didn't get in because if I did I wouldn't be a librarian right now, I know exactly what I'm doing and I'm loving it no bad news part, I'm just here to point and giggle at that post, I was so distraught and it all worked out in the end
Bad news: Have a throat cold right on the day I’m supposed to do some voice acting, on the very day I finally get to read for a female character. (Transformers read aloud group, so awesome.) It’s just for fun, so no one is gonna actually be fussed if Nautica sounds a wee bit hoarse. Still, the very first appearance of a major female character. Any single previous week would have been better. I’m a soprano for fuck’s sake, and there’s only so many minibots. Good news: I actually know enough sign language to get by while I preserve my throat for the evening. Bad news: Nobody in my family understands sign language. Like, at all. Whoops.
Good news: “She, I watch video” was sufficiently clear. Eta: Also “Now?” and “Your beverage is over there.”
Bad news: I didn't update my address with the CRA when we moved like I thought I had. Good news: It was easy to fix that in less than five minutes, so they now have my current address on file, and it turns out that I got a refund on my taxes! Bad news: They sent the cheque out and it got returned as undeliverable, because it was sent to an address I don't live at any more. Good news: Within about a week of me updating my address, they'd sent out the cheque again and I can go deposit it now.
Bad news: I'm...pretty sure I miscalculated the number of hexapuffs I need, somehow, and I need about three times the number I thought I'd need. Good news: I figured this out because I was running the calculations for making my sister a beekeeper's quilt as a wedding present, and I was coming up with needing about twice as many hexapuffs for a smaller quilt than I need for the one I'm working on right now. And I figured it out well before I got anywhere near being finished, so all I need to do is adjust the numbers I need for completion.
Bad news: we're moving. Good news: we've already found a new place, over in Vancouver, and we don't move until mid-November at the earliest. (We don't get keys until November 16th.) And we don't have to deal with any more showings here, because the first people to come through immediately made an offer that the landlord accepted. Bad news: The people in the apartment we're moving to aren't letting anyone in, even for viewings, until they move out on November 1st. And the landlords are reassuring us that "everything will be renovated, the walls are going to be completely replaced", which came up when Matesprit asked about mold. So, uh, that fucking Bodes. And it's apparently next to an oil refinery, and a park full of noisy kids. So it's not a great location. Good news: it'll be easier to move from Victoria to Vancouver than it was to move from Cape Breton to Victoria, and we probably won't need to completely replace our furniture this time since we can hire a Uhaul and use that. And once we're in Vancouver, we can start looking for better places to live.
Spoiler: menstruation talk good: period arriving yesterday means it won't be an issue when i'm going in for surgery and for the first few weeks of recovery Bad: can we not do the physical pain part of it? Like for real. It's really mild i just dont like it
Bad news: the physical release of Save The Light has been pushed back to mid-March. Good news: HOWEVER, the digital release is still coming out on the 30th, which means I'll be able to get it to play on my trip after all! :D
bad: drove 20 minutes to class with a protein bar and chips for supper because i have been seasonal affective disorder lump all afternoon, only to discover there was no class good: A. no class! B. i now have the perfect opportunity to catch up on notes from last week (i skipped cuz dad got us tix to the Dracula ballet & it was suuuuper worth it)
Bad news: Accidentally napped for most of the day. Good news: Didn't completely sleep through dnd session. Also, my room is about 75% packed already anyways, so I don't have that much left to do? Bad news: aaaaaaa (Translation: moving day approacheth, and also this is not the first time this week I've accidentally napped most of the day.) Weird news: Um, how did I manage to nap most of the day? I'm really not sure, I would have suspected that someone would've woken me up at some point? But apparently not.
Bad news: It's 3:40 am and I need to be at my placement at 9 am tomorrow. Good news: My research project is done enough that I can turn it in for feedback from my supervisor. @turtleDove Can I steal some of your nap?
Good news: we're pretty much ready to move. My room's packed, asides from stuff I need on a daily basis. Bad news: we're still not moving for at least another week. Good news: the mold inspector has gone through the new apartment! And he's doing a free building inspection for us, too! Bad news: he found mold. Some of which the landlords had hidden. And he also found asbestos. And there's mold in the heating vents, and the kitchen fan doesn't actually vent to anywhere - it just blows moist air into the walls. Good news: ??? ETA: Okay, no, good news is that we found this out before we moved in and they can't blame us for any of the mold so it's on them to remediate it. Bad news is that we're not gonna be able to move in till they have remediated it, which means we might be staying at an air bnb for a while.
