You guys probably remember better than I do... what was that book (or series of books?) full of mini horror stories and urban legends that had the delightfully terrifying art? I know there was a big thing a few years back because they reprinted the book with new goofy cartoon-looking shit and everyone was mad because the art was what made that book. I remember it having just a few REALLY good stories but the art was what left an impression. But my memory is shite and I can't remember the book, author, or artist.
Young man, pick yourself off the floor, I said, young man, man door hand hook car door. My personal favourite joke creepypasta.
I was gonna say Mostly Ghostly but yeah it's gotta be scary stories to tell in the dark, that was fucked up ok does anyone remember that one story about the really fat dude with a mouth in his stomach? I thought bruce coville wrote it, it was by the same author that wrote this story about the moon stealing children anyway that dude scared the hell out of me
That's the one! Gods I loved those way back when. My favorite was Room for One More, which I think Oingo Boingo referenced in Dead Man's Party. Also the Ghost With the Bloody Fingers, which I found more silly than scary but liked anyway. So many memories :3
Highfive for your awesome taste in music, friend! another skinwalker/wendigo story that creeped me out: https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/2n7iiv/theres_something_inhuman_south_of_seattle_if_you/
https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/337lqx/there_is_something_very_strange_going_on_with_my/ a little clumsily written in places, but overall quite good.
you probably wanna do that in "that's unusual" unless it's the kind of personal experience you'd tell around a campfire with a flashlight under your chin.
If anyone's looking for spooky scary books and has access to a good library or something, I recommend "The Face In The Frost" and "The House With A Clock In Its Walls" by John Bellairs
1, why the hell do I read these at night 2, that one had a link in the comments to Whistlers, which was awesome
@Lerxst i just laughed so hard i choked. Fuckin a, man. Man door hand hook car hand is so GOOD SHIT. Anyone remember that fuckin ME TIE DOUGHTY WALKER story from the scary stories books? That one fucked me up, i still cant watch talking animal videos without getting all creeped, its great.
wait was that the one with the dog and the cabin in the woods? it is there Another scary as shit talking animal story
Yeah theres something singing in the woods and the dudes dog starts singing the fuck back. I bought the scary stories collection with the original art as an adult and i still have to keep that shit behind a dust jacket because it is nightmare fuel, i love it.
oh fuck I just read it and it turns out it isnt the one I thought of I have no fucking idea where mine came from. this means there are two creepy goddamn talking dog stories out there ok. so the one im thinking of, this family goes camping in this cabin in the woods. and so at some point someone tells them to be careful of this thing that lives in the woods, because either (my memory is not great) this thing can possess you and copy voices Or this thing can pretend to be you-copying voice & shape. but it can only do it when it looks you in the eyes. so of course this family brushes it off, but slowly they start acting weird. like, really weird. so it comes down to the main character, who's like a preteen boy or something, realizing that this is totally a thing, so he takes the family dog (who wanders away or something) and basically makes a distraction in the woods. his "family" runs out, and he takes the opportunity to run back into the cabin and locks the door behind him, and one by one his family is just knocking and calling, but he doesnt open the door eventually everything in the woods gets quiet, and it's dark, so the kid relaxes. but then there's a scratching at the door, so he's like "oh god oh no wait it's just the dog" so he opens it and it looks up at him and goes "thanks it was getting cold out there" ....the more i think about this story the more i wonder if it was just a really bizarre dream i had when i was ten
RIGHT? seriously if this is an actual book i would like to reread it and if it isnt, i should write it apparently, because it scares the shit out of me
