I honestly have no idea what colors are more traditionally associated with the zodiac. Everything is just Homestuck colors. Forever.

Same though. Though I don't think I've ever really seen zodiac color associations? SHRUGS VAGUELY.

And even if there were, at this point it's probably been unwittingly taken over by homestucks and non-homestucks just because "pretty rainbow cycle!"

Okay, I think I've got my shit picked out. Did the traditional planets + sun/moon, plus a bead for "ascending sign" (or card, w/e) and south and south nodes. That gives me a total of thirteen beads, which seems symbolically important/relevant.

I also kind of want to pick some up for the handful of asteroids that astrology gives credit to, but it's hard to find any kind of meanings for those, so I'm gonna let them be for now.

[Late] The only color coding I can think of outside of homestuck is the element of the zodiac, like fire signs would be different orange/yellow/red range of some sort, water signs are blues of course... etc

And did my first batch of readings! three-bead tosses onto tarot majors, came out pretty well! Only one of them didn't especially seem to jive for me (out of five) and one of them I know is super true just from the amount I know about the person I read for. The other three were all well-received by their people, so I'm counting that as a success. I was really starting to get into a groove by the end.

Pictures! The last one was the reading I felt was kind of aimed at someone else and that really gave me trouble overall. It could still be true, it was just a reading that kind of beat me up with traditionally romance-related stuff and I'm pretty sure the person I was reading for is ace? anyway.

And yes, the magician did pop up in four out of five readings. I think it's trying to start shit.

#see the pun I made there

So. Looks like I have a couple luck/money/job things that appear to give potential gains a boost. I can do a writeup later if anyone is interested.

    1. Herb/Spice charm jar!
    • Basil (Prosperity)
    • Mint (Prosperity)
    • Cinnamon (Power)
    • Cloves (Power)
    • Allspice (Luck, Power)
    • Rosemary (Promotion, Advancement)
    • Fennel (Prosperity)
    • Eggshell powder (Prosperity)
    • Bay Leaf (Success, Wishes)
Crushed up and put into a teeny jar that I intended to wear as a pendant but couldn't find an eyelet screw small enough to fit in the cork so I stuck it in my bra the day of the interview and every day I went to work afterward. A LOT of them are multipurpose but I focused on those properties.

Did my usual thing of asking aid of the elements or who/whatever works for you, listened to empowering music while crunching it up.

Made it on a Sunday for New Beginnings.

    2. Put a mixture of ground cloves, cinnamon and allspice in my hair like dry shampoo for both interviews. Which worked much better the second time when I mixed it with the argan oil I use normally. No itches. Bonus, my hair smelled fantastic for three whole days even with daily showers.

    3. Little cantrip things:
    • Bay leaf wish. Write the thing you want on a whole bay leaf, then burn it, releasing your wish. If you take stock in candle flame "messages" you can get an indication of how it'll go. My bay leaf burned crackly (Indicating a 'heated' issue or strife and hoooly hell has there been some backstabbing and sniping going on since my first interview) and quickly (Indicating that it was an 'easy' wish but it could require more from me. I ended up having to reschedule my SCUBA class so I could make the second interview). Make sure you word it right! I wrote the wrong job title on the first leaf and it fizzled. The second one was correct and went up like a match.
    • Cash-in-Hand cantrip: burn onion or garlic skins (the dry crumbly bits) on the stove to invite money in.

Also, witchcrew, anyone know of a good source for deck/rune bags, specifically opaque ones? I need a blind-draw bag for my bead divinations, and the only ones at my local witchy shop are either the stiff velvet kind (which I dislike) or prints with celtic-or-Wiccan symbols (which are not my bag).

Edit: as for your actual question, its pretty easy to sew drawstring bags out of anything you like. Just get a fabric you like the feel of, cut a circle, fold the edge in around some string, and sew. Pulling the string tight makes it a bag. I made little ones all the time when i was doing burying charms.

Lazarae The tide pod of art

Speaking of burying, I have a project I keep meaning to do. I have a cheap-ass plain wooden box, pretty small, that I've been filling with things that I have to get rid of. My old razorblade, my hospital wristband, bits of journals from ~around the time of my breakdowns, stuff like that. Physical items connected to the stuff I carry in my head I need to clean out. I've got most of that covered I think, I've just gotten indecisive on the actual witchy stuff. I'm a clutter wix, honestly. I use whatever's around the house and collect whatever keeps and looks useful. But that doesn't really feel right for this so I'll probably have to go out to get stuff which means I need a List.

Originally I was going to use things associated with binding, since my dad probably has a stash. But I decided I don't like the idea of treating past-me as a malignant entity. So my next thought was funerary themes, one of the sites in my Happy Place is pretty much the Graveyard of Laz full of past-me for similar reasons to why I'm doing this. It's just list making is stressful for me so I can't decide what to get/use and I keep self sabotaging can't think realistically. I don't think even dad knows where to get asphodel around here.

@Lazarae funeral stuff seems appropriate, yeah, or like... rebirth imagery? Because it's not just putting the stuff down, it's growing up and past that period of your life.

Id think that'd be a good use for pearls honestly. Growing around the hurtful things and making something beautiful from it, as well as sealing it safely away. Maybe bury it near running water if thats a possibility, for moving on and carrying that all away?

Maybe... consider it a change of old life to rot to the fertile ground for new life. You have all these things you will bury, to break into parts of what it was, and then make something beautiful again from the remains. It needs a seed, in that sense, something to grow on top of it, buried with it to flourish, watered with something cleansing but gentle. Maybe. I'm not much of a witch, but symbols and cycles are big for me.

@Lazarae I'm with Raire on the rebirth/growth thing.

@Starcrossedsky For bags, depending on size, you could get plain leather squares at craft shops and punch drawstring holes with an awl. Or hit up some of the crafty people and have one knit or crocheted

Not leather. Don't like leather bags. Like at all. Plus when they're used in a witchy atmosphere they tend to come off as native-american-themed and I don't want that. 100% Pain In The Ass White Immigrants in the bloodline.
