i found touhou/detroit: become human fanart and i am not sure how to feel about it, especially since it's my ship: Spoiler: holy fuck it was big
my brain decided to do me a touhou filk at work today oh i have been a touhou now for fifteen years or more of silly hats and bullet walls i thought i knew the score but now i have a spell card, i've never used before marisa's lookin' worried... and she's gonna worry more! Gensokyo! Insane mode, go! Spam missiles in the skyyyy
So tobyfox and ZUN had an interview together. Here's a post with some highlights and a link to the interview itself. My favorite bit I think is ZUN admitting that he never learned how to design characters and just fucking makes shit up as he goes along.
So Touhou Secret Santa has finally opened up its submissions for wish lists! The basics of the event is that you fill out a form with your wishes, pet peeves, art skills you've got, and things you're unwilling to do and then after the signups closed you get matched with someone. You then proceed to make An Art for the person you're matched with. The event is a multi-media exchange too. So things like traditional or digital art, music, comics, and so on are considered valid gifts. I figure at least someone here might want to know that it exists and is happening.
So Koto Inari. Does a lot of weird creepy fairy tale-esque art with the Touhous. They do some other stuff too like Undertale and Splatoon, but the Touhou stuff is the stuff I like best. Here's a few I've found today that I really liked. Spoiler: Storytime with baby Sanae and Kanako! This one I love lots in particular because look at how into the story Sanae is! She is having a good time! While Kanako tells her a fairy tale obviously based around Suwako's loss. And there's more of these too! Lots of story time regaling how the little frog gets eaten by the powerful snake! A lot of Koto Inari's stuff with the Moriya family deals with that. Spoiler: Sakuya's true age This one here makes use of one of my favorite tells for shapeshifters and tricksters of similar sorts. Namely, one's true self is depicted in the shadow. This is also one of my favorite explanations for why Sakuya seemingly never ages. It's not that she's not, it's the time manipulation. Unsettling, classic and very fairy tale-esque. Good shit. Spoiler: Sakuya's shitty childhood Spoiler: Child abuse crap This once I like for the sheer...menace of the implication. We've got a clearly disturbed child looking up in...confusion? Distress? As the adults exchange money over her and ownership over her as they just kind of...loom over her as nightmarish shadows. Sakuya doesn't particularly like humans and her life before was spent being ostracized and distanced by her own kind to the point where she gave the fuck up on them. THE MENACE.
Been replaying EoSD for the first time in fucking ages and man did I forget what a bitch that game is compared to the others I've played. It's mostly just due to the fact that there's no visible hitbox during focus, so my normal methods of gauging this shit just don't work at all. You do get used to it through play, but it does through you for a loop. Pretty hard, I think. Also man getting this game to run at all on windows 10 is a bitch. Many of them are but 6 has been the one that's given me the most trouble so far. Speaking of EoSD...the Mega Zun rendition of Sakuya's stage theme is so good. Her stage theme in general is. I kind of wish the stage themes got more love in general, honestly...
