Reporting the mods

Pick one of these or the other. You can't repeatedly snipe at someone and then get upset when they answer to defend themselves.

 

To clarify:

Placing an @ before someone’s username sends that user a notification.

Any post that contains an @ before someone’s username can generally be considered as directly addressing that user.

 

That said, I'd argue even if they broke the @ mentions, going "Spock did so and so in the wiggler" still affords Spock the right to respond to defend themselves and correct the record

 

Yeah, I asked someone who might have done a bit of research about making a plan, but they had nada.

I notice a shift in this thread from "serophobe" to "fundamentally broken" without any acknowledgment that anyone else was in the wrong. If I leave, it's going to fester.

Maybe this thread should be locked, I take a short break that is completely self-determined, I get a new name when I ask for it instead of during a rile-fest, we can start a bit over with a lighter hand on the post-mod and a bit of lighter discussion. I think @spockandawe found a new variation on her name? I might not notice if she changes to that and gets a different transformers icon.[/spoiler]

 

Agreed. Removing the @ notification doesn’t solve the problem. I just wanted to make sure that in the future, direct pings are only happening on purpose.

 

Spockandawe has always been Spockandawe, I don't know what name change you're referring to.

Do you know what kintsugi is? Not the forum, the actual Japanese craft. When pottery is broken, artisans will repair it with silver or gold joinery. The resulting piece is considered more beautiful and valuable for it's uniqueness than the original piece. Being broken does not mean being worthless. It means it will take someone with the right skill and patience to join you into being whole. That's what a therapist does.

“Fundamentally broken” isn’t one that I’ve seen come up.

I think a better description would be, “In a lot of pain, with maladaptive coping mechanisms.”

What we’re saying is, we can’t help you from here. You have IRL work to do before the situation here can do anything other than flop around in painful, bloody circles.

Until then, best we can do is maybe keep you company, but that becomes something we don’t want to do when we keep hurting each other.

 

Wait, are you asking Spock to change her name and icon just so you won't recognize her? Because if so, that is not even remotely a reasonable request.

 

Has Rigel posted in this thread? Because I admittedly confuse the two of you semi-frequently with your similar-ish-looking avatars at a glance and would not be at all shocked if that's somehow what's happening here. Athol seems to have some major issues with similar looking avatars and possibly name retention.

Okay. this might be a hallucination, but I'm reading Spock saying that she should get shockandore as a username, and that whichever page that was on had a conversation leading up to it.

 

It was more of a hypothetical than a request for it to actually be done. If I hadn't immediately blocked Vivec, their name/icon mix might have fooled me into forgetting that they're some level of jerk.

 

And she did! It's just another account.

 

For the record, based on my own knowledge and history of asking for name changes, it was accidental. No mods are monitoring that thread, only Seebs can change account names, and they get so many notifications that it's near-impossible for them to keep that thread up to check constantly.

Should you want a name change in the future, reporting the post is the best way to get it done. Even then, a wait time of several days to maybe a week isn't out of the ordinary, because Seebs does have a real job and a homelife and cannot be around 24/7 for this specific thing.
