I was full body wincing while reading it only to reach the authors note and see that they had already altered it because people had been complaining about untagged rape. Their “fix” was to emphasize that the handmaid character was thinking “well technically I COULD leave and return to the handmaid facility but if I do that three times I’ll be dismissed.” They then tried to course correct hard after that but it came across as really weird! If the handmaid position is completely consensual and has all these rights and is respected then why are their names still changed the whole thing was wiieeeerd
yeah but that's more like the reason that performers change their names in general, like to make it more appealing to their audience (as well as protecting their private life) whereas the Handmaid name change is more like something that is done to reaffirm their position as Less Than and Belonging To
also i'm in physical pain, why am i seeing the tags 'gay', 'yaoi', 'slash', 'boys kissing' on a work in the year of our lord 2018..... it's already categorized as m/m..... you do not need to Warn Your Readers about BOYS KISSING... even tvtropes doesn't do the "U HAVE TO WARN IF UR FANFIC REC IS SLASH, SOME PEOPLE DONT LIKE TO SEE GAY SHIT" thing anymore

"X character from other fandom reincarnates as Harry Potter" is not that uncommon when it comes to HP crossovers. (There's also "X character from past eras of HPverse reincarnate as Harry," which isn't technically a crossover but still is kind of included in this genre. I've seen several of these with Salazar Slytherin.) (note: i don't know final fantasy, so idk how ridiculous the character in question reincarnating as Harry would be)
That’s. Holy shit. On the one head that is a very wierdly specific genre but on the other hand reincarnation crossovers is actually a more interesting concept to me then most “normal” crossovers. I demand a fic of Professor Layton reincarnated as Doctor House on my desk by yesterday.
Also like. I guess I can see it. They are both dark haired chosen ones who have been raised to die for the greater good and are noted for their resemblence to their fathers, with one friend that has freckles and self esteem issues but is extremely loyal and another friend who is scary smart and has some wierd moral priorities, as well as a rival with platinum blond hair and a vaugely french name who is working with the bad guys but isn’t quite in lockstep with them and a villian with parallels to their own life who was thought to have died. Gladio is, of course, Hedwig.

There's also the ones where Harry becomes the Master of Death so now he's like a dimension travelling immortal gothy boy. I was also going to bring up the staggering number of fics where Harry is female and mackin' on Naruto's hot dad, but it turns out its all one multipart 600k word epic by a single author. So it's not a trend, its just this one writer.

I have no fucking clue what you think multi means but I see it near exclusively on fics with a bunch of straight ships and zero anything else. It definitely does not mean triangle. DONT TAG AS POLY IF ITS JUST A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE ONLY A PAIR END UP REALLY TOGETHER GOD. If its two guys dating the same female character and not each other thats still only m/f. Save me.
