I think being wiggled less depends on you not saying things (abusive, manipulative, cruel, harmful) that require wiggling.

I'm breaking this up into multiple posts bc Athol has mentioned a preference for posts with fewer topics
lashing out against people is BAD

if you are trying to hurt people, for any reason other than immediate physical self-defense, you need to STOP

who are you calling liars here? the kintsugi mods or the ppc?

in either case, please give examples of where they lied

it would be very helpful to have those examples to talk through and help you work through those issues

we can't really do anything about the general practice of lying, but people can help you work through concrete examples of other people lying about you

thegrimsqueaker 28 Moribunding Mouse Aggravates the Angry Assholes

    part 2/3
on kintsugi, mods take past behavior into account bc users often take past behavior into account

for example, person A, who has no history of saying harmful things about x group can say something about that group that would not be acceptable if person B, who has said offensive things about x group in the past, said it
I'm not actually sure what's meant by this, but it seems like some extremely bad-faith bs

thegrimsqueaker 28 Moribunding Mouse Aggravates the Angry Assholes

    final part
your actions towards the ppc were extremely abusive

you kept trying to get people here to say otherwise, and that kept not happening, which upset you several times iirc
if you want people to understand you, you need to lay out all the steps in your thinking

this goes both ways. if I skip a step in my explanations and they become confusing, please tell me and I will do my best to correct that when I can

  5. Athol Magarac

Athol Magarac I prefer reading posts without a lot of topics.

Something got wiggled, and Spock explained it. I was using delusional wrong. I'm working on not arguing, and just blindly accepting things even when I don't understand it.

  6. spockandawe

spockandawe soft and woolen and writhing with curiosity

Another correction, I guess, because 'delusional' was used exactly as 'delusional' generally is, and nobody said otherwise. So this particular angle does seem very bad-faith, even with context. The actual problem was described point-blank in the wiggler, and can best summed up as 'literally every other part of the post.'

Um, this sounds like "looks exactly like itself"

Could you maybe paraphrase the wiggled stuff and show the audience everything else?

  8. seebs

    seebs Benevolent Dictator

"Blindly accepting things" is not really what's been requested. But most importantly, no, you weren't "using delusional wrong". You were doing other things wrong, and were told what they were. This, right here, where you are told what someone's complaint is, and you say their complaint is something totally different? It's really fucking annoying. It also prevents you from making progress.

People get annoyed when I argue in an attempt to understand. I decide to not argue and just go with it, people get annoyed.

I need a codeword so that I can express that thing I'm not allowed to.

And where's that paraphrasing of what that mod think I said?

  11. Re Allyssa

    Re Allyssa Sylph of Heart

(This applies generally, I'm not sure which specific post you're asking about)

This only works when the phrasing is the reason for something to be wiggled.

When it's the thought that's being wiggled no amount of rephrasing will get it through.

Also, this requires us to do a lot of work for you and we don't always have the time or inclination to do that

    2) good lord, you are ENTITLED

    3) you made that demand less than 20 minutes ago, grow upppp

    4) I literally just walked in the door from a few hours of exercise, and I wasn't actually going to do this, because it only makes you look bad, but hey, let me go see if other mods will okay me doing that.

Sorry, I think it was Spock, so I should have said that so you could dismiss it as a vendetta instead of dismissing it for rudeness.

  15. spockandawe

spockandawe soft and woolen and writhing with curiosity

Just... mind the warnings if you read this, guys, including for the nested spoiler. It starts off uncomfortable, but it gets much worse before the end.

The context! This was a response to a post in the terf logic about a mom talking about how her child USED to THINK they were trans, but she sure taught her kid better. It's an unpleasant post. Right here. The kid identified as trans, mom is pretty sure they beat trained that out of them, and she has her "daughter" back, now identifying as a lesbian.

    Athol's take:

Point 1 doesn't need paraphrasing, it's a bit of a loaded topic, but one that some people are genuinely unfamiliar with. It mostly becomes an issue in the context of the later points:
Point 2 is a bit iffier, especially given how there are still issues with people using being trans as a criteria for 'mentally unsound', by parents and professionals both.:
    Paragraph break.

Point 3 is where oh god the ableism is escalating:
I've just gotta clear up that those weren't my pronoun choices. The bolding isn't from the original post, but those pronouns were not mine.

Point 4 is the only part of this she cares about, FOR SOME REASON:
Nobody here can, you know. Answer that. Because this is a screencap of a stranger telling people about her family on the internet, but sure, whatever, maybe someone can psychically divine the answer. Productive question.

Point 5 is a genuine question that probably would have been fine on its own:
Yes. Which is fundamentally and deeply abusive.

Point 6 follows directly from that and is asking questions about the kid that again, nobody here can answer because these are strangers across the internet and we're seeing the story filtered through an abusive parent's point of view.
Who knows! How would anyone here know? But man is it uncomfortable watching someone call this kid who identified as trans "she" while still implying that the kid would be a different gender if only she could pay for medical treatment.

Now, the fun part was when, here, a few people have chimed in on that thread, but she seems to have fixated on my response, so lemme just insert that here.

And that is when I was told that's "not what happened", which is real cute, coming from Athol.

After that, she stuck to her guns that if this kid wanted to go through this difficult/painful process (transitioning, I assume), then yes, that would make "her" mentally ill.

Then she compared helping a trans person transition to... treating someone with Body Integrity Identity Disorder by actually amputating their limbs.

So yeah, I'm extra glad in retrospect that this thread got wiggled and that conversation did not happen in public.

I responded again, because I'm a sucker, because this is relevant to the racism, etc., threads and it would be so nice if this problem went away:
But she says that she asked if the mom was "delusional", meaning she doesn't give her credit for being right. Except for, you know. The way she instantly believed everything the mom said about her child, and implicitly took her side that the child was wrong about their identity, etc., and then doubled down on how being trans sure is like a mental illness.

There we go!!! I have submitted my homework. Merry fucking christmas.

    Pronoun trouble.

Yeah, I'll get on the rest of it, but until people start referring to me with a pronoun that can't be typed easily on a QWERTY keyboard, I'm going to downrank "pronouns matter" below basic household chores.
