new fic in tiny fandom it's a fucked up one-shot incest pairing (that actually fits into canon decently well) depicted as v. fucked up, unhealthy and undesirable, good shit the tags are a mile long and ninety percent of them are self-flagellating about 'no I promise I don't support incest' and 'don't read this if you're underage' (you flagged the fic (correctly) as E already you chungus) and 'submitted on anon because why wouldn't you' and other promises that they know that incest is fucked up and that this is a Gross fic jesus christ is this where anti culture has left creators
What really upsets me is all the fic like that that stays in the drawer or never ends up getting written at all, because the author is too afraid to post it even with the excessive warnings.
Legit that fear's kept me from writing shit even in fandoms where I am 90% no one would really give a shit because there's like six of us and we know what we're here for. we fucking know
Spoiler: nsfw I feel like, if the premise of your fic is an experienced dude walking a virgin dude platonically through sex multiple times, if your virgin dude never tops once, and they both just default to, yes, of course, this less manly virgin dude would bottom, there's not even a point in him trying to stick his dick in anything, then that's just. Cowardice, I think. I dunno, I get real skeeved out by stories that have this weird undercurrent of "yeah, of course this one bottoms just by default, cause the other dude's like way manlier, yunno? Why would he ever even wanna try being on top in a fic about sexual exploration????" (edit)also, fuck the thing where people write tops as doms also, just by default. And this goes hand in hand with the weird trend of Destiel D/s fics where Dean's subbing, and the author goes out of their way to state that Dean only subs for dudes, and he super doms his lady partners. Like, fuck off. Dean's talked in canon about being bossed around and roughed up by ladies during sex. The dude's down for it. You just don't think the person getting penetrated can hold any sort of power in the relationship. grump grump grump, people writing porn to appeal to their own specific tastes when they should be writing porn that I like!!!! I'm just mad it's so difficult to filter for the dynamic i like is all.
Re: nonhuman names in a humanstuck AU. Oh man does that get interesting with Transformers. Sometimes you just have to try your best and accept that in some parts of the U.S. it’s perfectly normal to name your child Waspinator or Powerglide.
I imagine sports or competition AUs would be easier bc there weird nicknames are common. Waspinator caused a waspnest to be discovered in the stadium by running into it or somesuch.
I mean my go-to fill-in names for “theoretical Cybertronians A and B” were Carl and Louise, so I’m down with this.
*snerk* On a less snerky note, going back to the anti discourse, it's made me afraid to write origfic too, or to try rebooting my craft business. I fear that antis will spread lies about my real name and bad shit will go down :(
And on another note, does it qualify as OOC to write characters how their original writer wanted the readers to see them as opposed to how they ended up actually coming across to me?
what is with people and therapist/patient fic? yeah yeah you do you but like, i want to see some healthy character development and good therapy and at the very least have the therapist stop being their therapist and refer them so someone else if they're going to start a romantic relationship.
i have a Hannibal Lecter/Will Graham therapist/patient fic i've been slowly poking at for a couple years now (since Hannibal was relevant at least), but my draft is literally titled "the worst therapist" because Hannibal is being super unethical and i am making no excuses for him.
I just like the ethics breach and how emotional boundaries are being flagrantly fucked on both ends. Also therapists ping kind of like moms but not quite.
that's fair. what really gets to me, honestly, is the way so many of these are played off as romantic. like, it's cool if you (general you) are into stuff that would be fucked up if it were real and not fiction, but treat it like that, you know? which leads me into the realm of "oh no what if these people writing these don't realize that and get hurt aaaa!"...
Ahhh. That makes sense. For that sort of deal...at least with the kind of things like that that I've liked where it's played off as romantic it's been the whole thing of you knowing while you're reading that oooh this is the naughty taboo oooh. So the actual problems aren't addressed in the work because that's not what you're here for. You're here for a fantasy based around a Bad Thing You Can't Have IRL happening and nothing going wrong. It's kind of like doctor and teacher porn that way? Of the more romantic or at least less open about the ethical problems of it sort.
gripe about this one fanfic i'm writing: stop fucking sprouting new plot threads, we've got like 17 ongoing ones already why did i try to write a political thriller? why????
